Great for Ed, this is too constricting for Pearl Jam Shows. Although I agree it is good for people who can't be online at the exact moment tix are on sale.0

They used to do it before via snail mail for PJ showsSacramento 10-30-00, Bridge School 10-20 and 10-21-01, Bridge School 10-25 and 10-26-01, Irvine 06-02-03, Irvine 06-03-03, San Diego 06-05-03, San Diego 07-07-06, Los Angeles 07-09-06, Santa Barbara 07-13-06, London UK 06-18-07, San Diego 10-9-09, San Diego 2013, LA 1 20130 -
This system makes sense for the Ed solo shows given the small venues and limited fan club tickets. But it makes NO SENSE whatsoever for PJ shows in arenas and ampitheatres.1996: Toronto 1998: Barrie 2000: Saratoga Springs 2003: Buffalo, Toronto 2005: Kitchener, London, Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto 2006: Toronto x2, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Gorge #1 2007: London, Dusseldorf, Vic, Lolla 2008: WPB, Tampa, DC, MSG x2, Hartford, Boston x2, Beacon 2009: Toronto, Chicago x2, Seattle x2, LA #3&4, San Diego, Philly x4 2010: Cleveland, Buffalo, Hartford 2011: Montreal, Toronto x2, Hamilton 2012: Missoula 2013: London, Wrigley, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Hartford, Dallas, OKC0

Exactly, I am glad this will give a lot of people a shot at seeing Ed. There is no need for 20,000 seat arenas....got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...0 -

Sure there is. Keep the same lame psychopaths from hijacking the first 20 rows at every show on the tour.0 -
This is not really that much of a change. I wouldn't be surprised if they kept this for the next tour, especially if its a only a few shows. The only thing I think they should change for the larger arenas is allow you to attend multiple shows.0

Yes, I love it and agree a more people will get to go with this process. I may not win the lottery, but there's more fairness to doing it this way than fans relying on speedy internet connections, being at the right place and the right second, and having money to go to every show. I think the ticket limit is great too.
The psychopaths will still be there but they have to theirs through other means.

agreed!
i think it's GREAT for EV...and also perhaps smaller pj shows, etc. definitely saves the server from crashing, overloading the system....and makes it a bit more 'fair' for those with slower systems, less computer savvy, not able to be around the exact second 10c tix go on sale, etc. definitely a LOT more chill....i like it!
i may or may not try for tix, but either way.....whether i get tix or not, i think it's a really beautiful 'solution' to the issue of too few tix for really desired shows.ajedigecko wrote:Bravejamriot wrote:Great for Ed, this is too constricting for Pearl Jam Shows. while i agree it could be used gfor SOME pj shows....small venues, 10c only shows, etc...i don't think it would work for all. someone else mentioned it elsewhere, and quite true: pj does NOT sell out all their 10c tix everywhere. even perhaps regular tix may not be total sellouts at all venues, thus why they leave it open for people to buy multiple shows, travel, etc. i don't see that changing. some select few shows, sure. they've also limited shows by being residents of the state of the show i think for a showbox show once?.....did a lottery type dealie for beneroya? my memory is fuzzy. anyhoo....definitely a workable idea for many shows, just definitely not ALL imo.Post edited by decides2dream onStay with me...

ironically, a lot of these shows are within travel distance for me, and for the first time, I would be able to afford and get to 5 or 6 shows.
Im not upset though. Nothing I can do about it.0 -
I like this ticket policy as well. Ticket lotteries do not favor people just because they can get through the online door superfast or happen to be online when tickets go on sale unannounced. Bravo on the ticket lottery as a policy, 10c.Throw Your Hatred Down0

not happy
public onsale?
i know it's not 10c....but there will be opportunities.
and as i mentioned above, this is NOT the first time 10c has put 'limits' whether on quantity, or had to be a resident, etc. i remember irving plaza, had to be a NY resident with a specific 10c # or lower to buy very limited 10c tix. then there was the crazy tower records queue for the rest of us to try and score a free ticket with album purchase.it was awesome! so there is always a way!
wasn;t the astoria gig a UK only resident gig? i thought there was some limit on it? maybe to europeans only? i can't recall. anyhoo, it's been a few times throughout their history......Post edited by decides2dream onStay with me...

Again, I am curious, is this just because of the Vic and MSG? Those were the only two shows I saw that were hard to get tickets to in the last few tours. All others were available for a while....got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...0 -
Using round numbers, if Pearl Jam is playing an arena in your city and there are 1000 fan club seats available then 500 people will get those seats.
The new policy is a much calmer way of handling sales. The old way, those 500 people may have to book time off work on the onsale date, hope the sever doesn't crash and maybe get seats. Now you can enter anytime over the next two days and just wait.
There will still be complaints for the show in high demand, that won't change, because some will be shut out. But in actuality, for the popular shows it was a lottery system before and it remains a lottery system. Just now everyone is on more equal footing.0 -
and when do we find out if we have been selected?0

exactly!
i think it's awesome!
it really sucks to call out sick to just try for tix, even if you get em.....and the absolute STRESS of getting em! then for those shut out...it hurts doubly so! definitely levels it out some. it's sad, but the days of unlimited fanclub seats are gone...so for popular gigs/venues, there will always be shortages of 10c seats. this really makes it more pleasnat, and truly lucky!Stay with me...
