Friends with the Ex...

My sister and brother-in-law got divorced a couple of years ago. Although they have kids, the would get a long even if they didnt. It is a bizarre thing actually. They still have keys to one anothers house....Come to family functions...all that shit and they are happier as friends than they EVER were during their 10+ year marriage. So I would say it does happen, and it doesnt mean they will get back together. imho

My relationship with my ex is like this and we don't have kids together. We got married young...were married for a long time and had a great friendship throughout the marriage, so really saw no reason for the friendship to end. He still comes to occasional family functions...and plans to come to my wedding in Australia. We still own our house together (won't be selling it until I'm ready to move) - and he helps me take care of it (way too much for me to do on my own!)...we alternate cars so that I don't put too many miles on mine before I sell it, etc. etc.

Allie - I think it's VERY possible for them to just be friends. If something is off, you'll pick up on it. But I'm learning that lots of people maintain the friendship after the divorce.

You're welcome I'm realizing there's no standard formula for how these things work...just however it works best for the people involved. Like I said - you'll know if something feels off or makes you uncomfortable.

September 2009. I'm just crossing my fingers that my visa is approved way before then so I'm already in the country!
