    i will say, in all 'fairness'...none of em should still be open really, for the same reason. except the SA thread, i think they should have a thread to speak in their native tongue...besides, most of us wouldn't know they are chatting anyway, haha.
    oh the 'other' Aussie thread was just one that some fool ;) started to stir us and nobody was posting in it.
    But....I do see your point....but we shall just agree to disagree :D I think unless you're a part of one of those threads, ya wouldn't understand.

    I wish they could have just moved us to AET.....we were originally on the Porch for about a year and then they moved us (a year ago) to GTF.

    I think the threads that have been made as a 'home base' for the different countries is great and don't see why they're a problem???
    and as far as us visiting the various forums....we all did......obviously un-noticed though :(

    I really hope they DON'T shut any of the other similar threads down....I don't understand why we were singled out, but would hate to see it happen to any of the other countries.

    Congrats on the posters! Nah, I didn't try. I like posters but to limit myself I only buy them at shows I attended. I need to revamp/paint my room and I'll be moving in a year or so can't justify buying more posters. :o Some are wicked cool though so I wish I could!

    Yep....wanted Hawaii. 7 of the 8 of us (in the old thread) going for a poster, got one and we all want different posters....so hopefully between all of us at least one of us will get what someone wants and can pass it on :)

    You're moving?? are you staying in the same area....or is it a big move??
    We might be making a big move to QLD at the end of the year....so excited, if it happens....but dreading the actual move.

    How far away is QLD from ya? Yeah I HATE moving. But it is nice once you get settled. :) When will you know if you move for sure?

    Yeah a big move. :) Possibly international; even if it isn't it will still be far. I have a list of places so I'm trying to narrow it down. :o It is hard though and I HATE making decisions! :o

    i WAs a part of the london thread as i went to that gig...and i HAVe posted in an aussie thread and even the dublin thread i think, once. so i DO get what they are about. chatrooms. ;) seriously, i posted in the london thread often enough before the show, and then of course a bit afterwards discussing the show...and then moved on b/c it served it's purpose for me, and yes, became a chatroom. and not that i mind a chat, but i hate having to scroll thru sooo much to find a comment or 2 that is of interest to me. overall, i am not a fan of the really long threads b/c after a time, can't keep up with the content - altho sometimes that's a good thing. ;) haha.


    as to your point, i agree in part anyway. nothing wrong with threads for countries, regions...altho of course the board is meant to be welcoming to all. however, beyond that, i would suspect the REAL reason is simply 'the board is not a chatroom'...it's not meant to be a place for people to simply BS endlessly with no focus. each thread is meant to have a semi-focused topic. i think it's great they all got to last as long as they did. so rather than lament the loss, look at the good run you had....and sure, can perhaps do something similar? dunno. it's just sad when people feel singled out, i am sure it's not meant to be the case.....it's just this is a message board and not an IM program i imagine. hell, it's a board about PEARL JAM, no? :D

    QLD is about as far away as you can get from here (within Aus). Not really sure when we'll know....expected to know a while ago.....the company hubby works for are waiting for confirmation on the next contracts. He's been working over there for a whil, but sometimes it's months before he gets time off to come home to us.....and with the 3 kids, it's just getting too much - they miss him sooooooo much when he's away :( So we decided if he has to go back for another contract, we're moving over with him :D
    And the bonus is that I'll be closer to Sam, Wozz, Trudie and all the QLD peeps :p I miss them all so much!

    Oh I'm not gonna dwell on it...don't worry :) Just miss having that base where I know I can catch everyone, if need to.....We're a very close group, who fly all over the country to catch up as often as possible and that's only become, because of that thread :)

    But......as strange as it feels not having that base....i still have a lot of fun visiting the other forums and always (mostly) have.

    I guess it's habit....login to the pit every morning and go straight to the Aus thread to see who's home..hehe......now we'll just have to hope we bump into each other now and then.

    LOL Sorry but that's a big "NO" on moving to Oz. I'm sure it is lovely though :)

    I'm going to visit Welly in a couple months because I'm really interested in moving to NZ, went to visit NY to check it out (and to see P), thinking maybe going back to Seattle, maybe Budapest, Boston, I'm kind of all over really. My heart belongs to Berlin but it is too hard for me to move back to Western Europe with visa issues.

    OMG so you and your hubby are far apart from each other? That must be so hard with kiddies. :( My bro and his wife do that often because of their jobs (they just have to go where they are told to go, and it isn't always together) but they don't have kids, so when they do see each other it is a happy renunion. ewww that's my bro. :eek: Anyway...I hope the moving works out for you! I imagine your kids would love it. And being close to Sam and Wozz would be fun. :)

    i have friends from all over the country AND all over the world...b/c of this board and band. :) also, being a NYer we have a pretty strong contingent of fans, and spread out to outlying areas.....so i did try to do a monthly thing, proved to difficult...but ever couple of months, new thread, new meet-up...tis all good! hey, even arranged one once around an aussie vist! actully now that i think about it....2 sperate meets for 2 different aussies....so we love ya here too. ;)


    now you have a broader base....all of us on the board. :D
