Now Mike on the other hand... :p

And my2hands is discussing the parking lot because that is where the pre-parties are.
And this isn't a thread about telling people what songs they should or shouldn't play. It is his signature.

Noone is scared of camden , just the tailgating is hoorible. Noone could see the fundraiser because it was behind a train, night 2 I was drinking beer next to a dumpster, and it just smells of trash and piss.

The lack of the fundraiser being seen has more to do with the fundraiser and their choice of location (which was admittedly alittle poor) rather than the state of the parking lots. And even the lots in Philly smell of trash, beer and piss on the 2nd day of 2 shows. Yes it would be nicer for the band to play in Philly and maybe even alittle more convinent but it wouldn't necessarily be any cleaner or a better atmosphere. There are assholes either way.

    Camden sucks.

But the venue is awesome. The parking lots arent that bad (could use some more dumpsters). the main sucky thing is the wait to get out of the parking lot. never found it hard to find 676.

However, I do prefer arena shows I think.

But as was said above. It doesnt matter where they play really. as long as its close im happy.

Im just not a fan of the venue at all. I see what your saying about the fundraiser, but the fact that they even let people park in those side lots is disturbing. My take on things is that if you CANT see the venue from where your parking , it shouldnt be a lot. The view has a lot to do with mood of the fans when you pull in. If you get out of the car pissed off because they made you park in a trash can, then that kinda sets the tone a little bit. Plus, it really helps when you have landmarks and things not only to look at, but when trying to locate friends it makes it easier to find them. The less time I spend in NJ the better.

seriously guys... the city is terrible... the venue is terrible... the parking lots are terrible... the whole place is one giant shithole, ask ANYONE of us...

if you get seats on the side the show sucks... the only good seats are in the center... the lawn is full of drunk 17 year olds pissing everywhere and fighting...

the place blows. dont get me wrong i have a blast, but you guys need to bring it over the bridge and play the Wachovia Center or the Spectrum. It is a nicer city with more to do, more culture, and more places to stay (i notice the band stays in philly and not camden)... it is MUCH easier and SAFER to get there and leave there... there is TONS of parking, and not in some back dump area where you stare at old shipping containers and empty warehouses

i also prefer the set up of the arena style show... all the 10c seats are good... i would MUCH rather be on the side at the Wachovia center then on the side of camden. shit, half the stage you cant even see if you are off to either side in camden... the energy is better... the sound is better... the line of sight is better for almost every seat in the venue

it is pretty much a no brainer at this point...

I support this thread. I've heard stuff just like this before and it is why I won't drive up there.

I liked where they played at in Philly a few years ago, I can't remember, it may have been Wachovia. It's the only time I've ever been to philly.
It was in october 2005. We walked back to our hotel. Very convenient.

how about playing some where small like at that college in northern VA -- is it George Mason? A fan club only show with a meet and greet after? I want to meet Ed.

  • Im not a fan of Camden as far as sound/seats but the shows are always great there...and I will take what i can get...but you can't beat the Spectrum...that show was the best I have seen of about 30 shows...just something special about that place.

You are all whiners. I drove from small town Canada to Camden and it felt safe to me. Sure its a little rough, but we dont all have expendable money to spend on trips and concerts.

    I liked it!
And I really liked Vincents... good salad! And the ride from NYC was only 2.5 hours.

I hope the play it a million more times and I hope you decided to never go there again!

  • I don't really like the venue. imagine if they played the Mann.
also, getting out of Camden is a pain in the ass. The police always seem to block the way I want to go, making it take forever to get to the BF bridge.

I love this band and am so glad that I have the opportunity to see them. With that being said, I agree I hate going to Camden. It has nothing to do with the city itself, but more with trying to get out of the parking lots, the way the police detour everyone out on one or two streets....it is just a nightmare. I would love to see them at the Spectrum or Wachovia Center. I saw REM on Wednesday night and that was the first time I was at the Mann. I know it is a smaller venue, but would love to see them play there.

I think the point of this thread is to voice our opinion about how we think that these shows are special, and that they should just be moved across the river to avoid any avoidable situations occuring, AND to provide the fans with a more adequate environment for having a good time. If they played in sewer grate in Compton, CA , would I go? Sure......would I have fun? ....ehh

I pretty much hate all pavilion shows, because of the combination of drunk tailgating/lawn people, lousy seats on the sides (was Mike there Thursday? I couldn't see), and pain in the ass parking. Last night's DC show was miles more exciting and fun than Camden.

I prefer camden over any of the other venues in Philly. Id rather be outdoors than in an arena.
Ive never had a bad time there (knocks on wood)
