seriously guys... the city is terrible... the venue is terrible... the parking lots are terrible... the whole place is one giant shithole, ask ANYONE of us...

if you get seats on the side the show sucks... the only good seats are in the center... the lawn is full of drunk 17 year olds pissing everywhere and fighting...

the place blows. dont get me wrong i have a blast, but you guys need to bring it over the bridge and play the Wachovia Center or the Spectrum. It is a nicer city with more to do, more culture, and more places to stay (i notice the band stays in philly and not camden)... it is MUCH easier and SAFER to get there and leave there... there is TONS of parking, and not in some back dump area where you stare at old shipping containers and empty warehouses

i also prefer the set up of the arena style show... all the 10c seats are good... i would MUCH rather be on the side at the Wachovia center then on the side of camden. shit, half the stage you cant even see if you are off to either side in camden... the energy is better... the sound is better... the line of sight is better for almost every seat in the venue

it is pretty much a no brainer at this point...

I actually agree being from the area and seeing first hand how bad it is over there. We were tailgating basically in a dumpster. It was like an old shipyard or something. A concert isnt ALL about the music. It is a reason to see and hear good music, but it is also a chance to bring people together and enjoy each others company and have fun. Camden, nj is not a fun place to travel to and anyone from the Philadelphia area knows what I mean. Some people are actually scared to even enter the confines of camden and like the thread started earlier its not the easiest place to find your way out of. I second this this thread and if there is some way for the band see/read this it would be appreciated.

When I saw them in 06, I thought it was nice as hell. The e bridge that leads into philly along with the view from the river is nice. The shit around the venue is where it sucks.

  • Seems everytime they play there you see at least one of these threads.

I agree with every single one of your points however, I don't mind it as much as you and I don't mind if they continue to play there regularly. It's outdoors and roughing once and in awhile builds character :-)

A Citzens Bank Park show would be killer. Though it will never.....eeeeeeeeeevvvvvver happen!!!!!

Come on its a great place...

There is nothing like parking in a Prison parking lot and having a prisoner flash his junk at you(well more your wife). Its a Mecca of culture in Camden, a little something for eveyone.
Thats a lovely accent you have. New Jersey?

  • Id rather them play there then not at all... I think the band would confer as I do given that Ed (every single show) asks "where the F are we" "is this Philly or New Jersey". Better there than nowhere!
Id bet it has to do with the venue sponsorship...

First of all, there is no reason to be scared in Camden. Have any Pearl Jam fans been murdered after a show? I doubt it. There are so many people around after a show (as well as police officers). If you staying in the area, it is easy to stay in Philly and take the subway over to Camden. Short walk to the venue. Done it four times (by myself and with friends).

Parking lots? We're talking about parking lots?

I think we are overdoing the negatives here a little. That said, I'd prefer shows in Philly (I like indoor shows and the seating is better).

Noone is scared of camden , just the tailgating is hoorible. Noone could see the fundraiser because it was behind a train, night 2 I was drinking beer next to a dumpster, and it just smells of trash and piss.

And my2hands is discussing the parking lot because that is where the pre-parties are.

The lack of the fundraiser being seen has more to do with the fundraiser and their choice of location (which was admittedly alittle poor) rather than the state of the parking lots. And even the lots in Philly smell of trash, beer and piss on the 2nd day of 2 shows. Yes it would be nicer for the band to play in Philly and maybe even alittle more convinent but it wouldn't necessarily be any cleaner or a better atmosphere. There are assholes either way.

    Camden sucks.

But the venue is awesome. The parking lots arent that bad (could use some more dumpsters). the main sucky thing is the wait to get out of the parking lot. never found it hard to find 676.

However, I do prefer arena shows I think.

But as was said above. It doesnt matter where they play really. as long as its close im happy.

Im just not a fan of the venue at all. I see what your saying about the fundraiser, but the fact that they even let people park in those side lots is disturbing. My take on things is that if you CANT see the venue from where your parking , it shouldnt be a lot. The view has a lot to do with mood of the fans when you pull in. If you get out of the car pissed off because they made you park in a trash can, then that kinda sets the tone a little bit. Plus, it really helps when you have landmarks and things not only to look at, but when trying to locate friends it makes it easier to find them. The less time I spend in NJ the better.

I liked where they played at in Philly a few years ago, I can't remember, it may have been Wachovia. It's the only time I've ever been to philly.
It was in october 2005. We walked back to our hotel. Very convenient.

how about playing some where small like at that college in northern VA -- is it George Mason? A fan club only show with a meet and greet after? I want to meet Ed.
