There's nothing that much wrong with it. It's just that since I'm intending to move there, I'm making a lot of comparisons with Sydney, where we do every kind of food from all around the world well. Except for Mexican.

Jason and I had an Irish brekky. And some Irish stew. The brekky was nice, but overpriced which is to be expected cos we ate in the Temple Bar area. And the stew was nothing to write home about. Steph can tell you how obsessed I am with eating. Maple syrup in Canada, salmon chower in Seattle, croquettes in Holland, and whatever Sid's dad served up for us in Croatia. If we had more time in Germany, she'd find out about my love for sausages. She didn't follow me to Hong Kong where lunch time starts at 9am and lasts till 6pm, where I ate continuously.

I'll eat anything. Except for cheese (by itself, and not melted) and durian. I'll eat people if I have to. Grubs, grasshoppers, dog, cat, ate them all.

But really, all that Guinness kept us well nourished. Didn't really feel the need to eat much.
ah that's a shame :o you just didn't go to the right places! We shoulda all went for a meal one of the evenings and we coulda brought ya anywhere. You can get all kinds of food in Dublin and I know a couple of GREAT mexicans.

    its a letter box.

in Scotland we blew them up so they changed them all to display a Scottish Crown.. in Ireland they just painted them green... but they still have the Queens monogram on some of them.

in 3 years Scotland will be truly independent.. i cant fucking wait :):)

fuck, we've been independent for almost 100 years and people still think we're fucking British  so I wouldn't get overly excited. Oh maybe that's cos our letterboxes have the queen's monogram on them :D . I'm not saying you're wrong but I genuinely never noticed that though.

EVERYBODY'S opinions are valid... and sometimes an outsider can tell you more about a situation than somebody who's in it so don't knock it :)
i agree with this helen. its like people in relationship. Sometimes they are so in it and they cant see the way they have changed (for the badd) and only those on the outside CAN. They ask whats wrong, you tell them, they get madd and say what do you know! we KNOW cuz YOU cant see how you've changed cuz ure on the inside dammit!!!!

i saw one in Dublin and thought...hmmm thats weird

    some quick googling:-

Following Irish independence in 1922, existing British pillar boxes were retained, and simply painted green. Many of these are extant around the country, retaining the monogram of the monarch who reigned at the time of the box's installation. The Department of Posts and Telegraphs continued installing similar pillar boxes and wall boxes, but with the initials SÉ (for Saorstát Éireann), a harp or the P & T logo, instead of a monarch's monogram. Since 1984 An Post, the current Irish postal authority, use the An Post logo to adorn their posting boxes.

That is so seriously fucking annoying. Or they say 'what would you know, you don't have what we have' but you're the one they cry to every bloody night :( . I've been 'the friend' on many an occasion and it's soooo infuriating. It's like a kid in our town had a bad speech impediment but the mother refused to believe it and never got him help... now he's a teenager with a bad speech impediment just cos the mother wouldn't listen to outsiders!

thats presuming that person has been in a relationship... i mean you wouldnt ask a nun about your relationship as she simply has no idea.. but hearing something from a single person (who has had a relationship) is ok.. imo.

asking for advice from a parent on the disciplining of a child ... well thats different.. i want another parents advice.. not someone who hasnt had kids...

i wouldnt take advice about buying cars from someone who couldnt drive.

i wouldnt take advice about my career from someone who works in McDonalds.

I dunno... some people are just good at advice... all kindsa advice :) . Take psychiatrists for example... must they have experienced EVERYTHING? Someone who works in the rape crisis centre has to have been raped? What about teachers... they don't always have kids... I'm sure you listen to them?

But yeh, youre right, it is a great feeling though. Ignorant people who don't know any better don't take away from that feeling, they just make you realise there is so much stupidity out there

    I'm gonna patronise back:

I think parents secretly know that we know better and this annoys them cos they know their kids aren't perfect and we can see that but they don't wanna admit it. I feel kinda sorry for them really  :p

i listen to my mids teachers about things concerning their education... but not about how or if i should reprimand them... thats outside their remit.

hmmmm the rape crisis one is a good point... probably very highly trained, probably offering emotional support rather than a direct knowledge of the rape itself.

put it this way... i'd rather have advice from an ex-junkie about coming off drugs... i'd rather take the advice of an ex-alcoholic about quitting booze...

rape, death, cancer, etc... horrific things that require specialist support.. not like the 'advice' given on here which is kinda like asking Stephen Hawking for dancing tips...

i remember a thread about a weird heart thing i had a few years back.. i had tons of advice but the one that i took and the one that jumped out at me was a guy called DocChicago... he knew what he was talking about... the others just offered supportive advice... he offered knowledge.

if i want advice about literature.. i'd ask Finsy... i wouldn't ask Irish Al as he only reads scud mags :D
