Lazy ways of debating on the pit

Just a few I've picked up on in the past couple of days:

'Your opinion is null cos you've never experienced it.'

'You said something bad about America, therefore you hate America and take every opportunity to bash it... I mean why else would you say something bad'

EVERYBODY'S opinions are valid... and sometimes an outsider can tell you more about a situation than somebody who's in it so don't knock it :)

Anyway, I know there's a few more... and it'll come back to me I'm sure. Any more? :D
The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable

Copenhagen?? your light made us stars

'Your opinion is null cos you've never experienced it.'

i'll go with this one... if i start a thread asking 'parents.. how would you deal with this situation' and then give a scenario that requires some form of reprimand to the child...

    1. i only want the viewpoint of a parent...

    2. i dont care if you're an aunt or uncle or you have 14 cousins under the age of 4.

if someone who has no children comes onto that thread and says "you should do [whatever]" then, to me, 'your opinion is null cos you've never experienced it' is a fitting phrase.

its like when there was a thread about spanking... people were just coming onto it and saying "yeah thats whats wrong with society.. kids need spanked" and yet they've never spanked a fucking kid...

but this whole 'expert' thing that is flying around here at the moment is kinda shit... if someone starts a thread about 'whats the best way to cook a steak' then anyone thats cooked a meal will offer their expert opinion... but a thread about hitting a 4 year old kid deserves and needs the opinion of actual parents... not some amateur chef know-it-all.

i kinda lost my train of thought there :D
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

but what if you've been spanked? wouldn't that persons experience be just as valid? maybe it worked, maybe it didn't. they could show some insight too. you get what I'm saying?? I agree with what you're saying, some people ARE too opinionated and instead of just throwing in their 2 cents (which I have no problem with), they throw in the whole piggy bank.

Your opinion is null... you've never spanked a child so you don't know how it feels to spank, rather than be spanked, cos it's all about the parent ya know :)

okay I understand the perspective now. it's hard for a parent to spank a child, even it's something that has to be done. understood.

    carry on :)

and what advice would you give a mother who is so close to her wits end that the mere sound of her child crying is enough to make her feel murderous and/or the first tear of totally losing it.

'You said something bad about America, therefore you hate America and take every opportunity to bash it... I mean why else would you say something bad'
In my experiences with people, I find that Americans are especially more likely to jump to defending it if it's an outsider making a criticism. Once said outsider shuts up, generalised American guy will then proceed to pick out the smallest detail about American life and complain about it to another American, and make good points about these micro-topics that an outsider probably won't even grasp. And it's all fair game so long as it's not an outsider making the criticism.

If you're feeling murderous towards your child or towards ANYONE (I've felt that before) you need to either get away from the situation or get some help. That's pretty obvious to anyone! :o Anyone can give that advice... if you ask what to do when your kid starts asking about sex, I probably can't help you there... but I can tell you not to kill your kid

nope... as they have no idea what it was like for their parents to spank them.

they are experts on what its like to be spanked but not experts on spanking their own children.. cos they have none :)

Anyway, I know there's a few more... and it'll come back to me I'm sure. Any more? :D

    nice compilation HH,
    another good one was
"You're Irish, so you cant relate understand why Jewish people would be sensitive to the Holocaust"

that really got me going when i read it! ...a truly profound argument!

:D True! But also, if you claim that your country is the best, strongest, richest, baddest country in the whole wide world... and you can't even defend that without resorting to the usual 'you hate America' well you're not doing yourself OR America any favours.

    course it is.

if i start a thread "parents: should i spank my kids" then i want fucking parents to answer... i dont want people who were spanked as a kid coming on it and saying .. oh it never done me any harm... as it clearly did... they cant read the fucking thread title which clearly states PARENTS... so them saying its done no harm is bullshit... they cant read for a start

i also dont want 4 year old children coming onto my thread... so it obviously about the parents... i fail to see your point.

Well as a childless empty hole of a woman ;) you and other parents will be dead long before your kids (hopefully) so I'm more concerned about how your kids turn out to be... not what the psychological effect of spanking your kid will be on YOU :D
