It's almost as if Get_Right hasn't read any of your previous points... actually, scrap 'almost'.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

But Jeremy1012 outrightly stated (and he's right) that it's a fallacy to suggest that fox hunting is EVER 'necessary' for population control.. and it certainly is not legal or ethical..'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. Who said anyting about vermin? Im talking bears, aligators, deer, boar, moose etc.....
I guess there are some ethical issues with the dogs (is it the dogs that kill the fox? If so I actually didnt know that), but its not that different from bird hunting where the dogs flush em out.
I have no problem with humans shooting animals, as long as the existence of that species is not in question or threatened. But its not my thing as I hate guns. And I dont approve of lures or other enticing ways to get the game to come to you.
I thought they had eliminated the fox hunts so that they are really just a display of fancy hunting coats and hats! A bunch of aristocrats riding horses through the country-who the heck cares? Bigger problem is the poachers killing the congo gorillas.0 -

Yes, and this is plainly wrong too. Neither should birds be tortured for sport.Get_Right wrote:I thought they had eliminated the fox hunts so that they are really just a display of fancy hunting coats and hats! Firstly, the point is, it doesn't matter what new laws are passed - it's still happening. People are ignoring the laws.
Secondly, what, so there's a hierarchy of importance when it comes to this stuff? Congo Gorillas are great... who cares about foxes?'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

And as long as there are those advocating sport-orientated death by dog pack for nuisances, I will be advocating the same for those that do it  After all, if we're allowed to decide how valuable a life is, just because we're "civilised" then I'm taking it upon myself to assign values to humans too. Needless to say, inbred twats in red jackets and stupid hats are fairly low on my list."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -

Jeremy1012 wrote:Obviously, and that's your prerogative. It worries me that this kind of apathy from some just perpetuates the activity though. The mindset behind killing things, whether those things are 'useful' and 'intelligent' or not, for entertainment is one that should be discouraged by all. I just think it's sheer arrogance to think that an animal is less deserving of the sanctity that humans seem to afford to their own lives. I'm sure foxes don't rate us too highly either.

I think we should organise a cull.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

my statement was much more general and not necessarily directed at fox hunting0 -

Fair enough statement... whilst I don't agree, general or not, thanks for qualifying.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

never gone fishing? never poured salt on a slug?oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -

plus, I only used a net and put the fish back in the water.
And as for the slug thing, no. Seen it done though."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -
