    I'm not a fan of the death penalty so killing them isn't an option for me. It's sick and disgusting when an adult molests a child, but I think some other posters have brought up situations regarding consensual sex that make what appears to be a black-and-white issue a little more gray. Sexual predators are reason No. 138 why I never want to have children, though the 137 before it are better reasons.

    Does she cease being shy, and starry eyed the day she turns 16? The legal age is 16. If someone's just a few months under the legal age, is it such a big deal? Especially if the situation was consensual. To call someone a peadophile for having consensual sex with a girl who happens to be 15 1/2, or 15 and 364 days old seems a bit absurd to me.

    I think there are 2 sets of pedophiles - one who were abused themselves as children and the other - may not have been abused but is sick.

    it's an interesting topic because on one hand you feel terrible for the child that is the victim, and then they grow up and do the same that was done to them and people say kill them. same child they once felt sorry for.

    honestly, there is no right answer except rehabilitation. i do not think prison helps these people at all. it is a mental illness. they need to be treated. and kept out of society until they are able to control their behavior. many molestors beg not to be released into society because they admit they will do it again, but our f'd up system releases them anyway.

    they need help, period.

    and i am a HUGE advocate of megan's law - if a child molestor lives in my area i want to know. and believe i have the right. i do not believe they should be the one's protected - our children should come first.

    I think people need to differentiate between a child molestor - I.e, someone who forces himself upon a child - and consensual sex. It appears to me that not everyone labelled 'sex offender' is a paedophile. Someone who has consensual sex with a 15 year old isn't a paedophile and does not qualify as a child molester, and certainly shouldn't be placed in the same bracket as a rapist or murderer.

    I don't to imagine it was my child. It happened to me. And I still think killing them is hypocritical, unjustified, and barbaric. I wasn't killed by it and anyone who says otherwise doesn't know anything about anything. I'm tired of this "what if it happened to you" stuff. Guess the fuck what. It did.

    Child molestation is the most despicable and loathsome of crimes.

    But those who commit it have a disease. While I don't want them on my streets (or anybody else's streets for that matter), I believe they should be put away and receive treatment for this disease.

    Or they could just go on the Steve Wilkos show and have him remove their chairs from the stage while repeating their offenses in a loud voice; that will show them.
