No. You can have all the fun you want to. I guess I didn't explain the situation very well. When I saw Cindy at the press conference, when the cameras were on she was crying and talking about her son. When the cameras were turned off and the press conference was over, not a minute later she was smiling and laughing it up with her friends. There was no sincerity on her part. It was just for show. It pretty disturbing to witness.

Ok. But she was done talking about her son. I mean I kind of understand what you are saying but she was talking about her son and that brings up emotions that makes her cry. Obviously you were there so you are a better judge but it seems a silly reason to think she isn't genuine.

Do you have any more or other reports of this from anywhere? All we have is your word.

Sorry that's all I have. Ask Sapperskunk he was there as well, and was witness to what I saw. I know what I saw, and I know how it made me feel. I don't expect people to have the same feelings I do.

I think you both might be a bit biased, though, so who knows. You were already there to protest her presence. It's all about perception. That's why I asked if there were any other reports of this.

Illinoisemakers and I were not protesting her presence, I and only myself was there to protest against an organization called Veterans for Peace. I asked Illinoisemakers if he would join me just to watch my back, like a good friend he did. After the first day it became apparent that nobody planned on getting violent towards me so Illinoisemakers took off. But not before Cindy came out.

Cindy came out joking and having a blast, talked to some cameras while turning on the tears, then once the statement was done, back to the party. I am dead serious, it was absolutely ridiculous.

Don't get me wrong, every vetersn is a veteran for peace to include myself, war's a bitch and I prefer we avoid it at all costs.

My beef with these guys was there creation of a fake memorial. They used 2700 or so plastic cookie cutter gravestones, crosses and stars of David and emplace them wherever they have rallies and conventions. These little white plastic gravestones bear the names of the men and women who died in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's a strong message politically and very effective to show how many have died in this war and by putting the names on these things it adds a nice human touch.

My only problem was with there use of the names. Essentially they're using dead troops to help encourage their political agenda, which is an immediate withdrawl of forces in Iraq. These names are public domain and released by the department of defense, so it's perfectly legal, but in my opinion morally wrong. If I died in Iraq, I wouldn't have wanted my name used in that way, I'd want my name celebrated not exploited. Also they don't know if the're putting a catholic guy on a star of david or a jewish dude on a cross etc etc. I made examples of mentioning my friends who didn't make it home, knowing them like the back of my hand, they'd agree with me dead on. The veterans were super nice to me, the civilians were assholes.

I stayed there for three days (going home at night) and made a ton of friends with the VFP guys whom totally supported my point. By the third day, I spoke with the gentlemen in charge of the podunk memorial and they promised not to use names on the markers anymore.

    Fair enough. Thanks.
