why do people seem to have the idea this would be a deciding factor for voting for Obama?? OBVIOUSLY, IT ISN'T, but it's surely somethign that makes him look bad and we lose some respect for him for it.

And, NO, IT'S NOT because of the fact that he wont wear a certain color like you all seem to think it is. It's because of the fact that he's trying to distance himself from Islam so much that it's quite disturbing to see (like the Muslim girls who tried to sit in the back or whatever). How can we expect a guy like this to be president when he actually has to color coordinate his clothes so that they can't be associated with ANYTHING muslim??

and I'll add...Obama has spent quite a bit of time addressing a fucking flag pin, so his hypersensitivity is no surprise to me...

there are still billboards around the country advertising that obama is spelled a lot like osama. you're vastly over-estimating the average intelligence of america. he wouldn't appear noble. nobody would even know what the hell he was doing. i didnt know green had anything to do with islam or the middle east or anything else until this thread and im a relatively well informed guy. this is about tact and diplomacy, and it's pretty fucking refreshing to me just to have a candidate who's not walking into foreign countries with a cowboy hat and six-shooter and telling them to open mcdonald's or else we'll invade.

It's not associated with a particular sect. according to tradition, which is often ignored or just not even thought of in the middle east, green is the color of the RELIGION Islam. Not just the middle east, the actual religion. obama clearly did not want to be associated with the religion because to him, being associated with it is an insult. that's why people care about this.

are there people over there pissed off about it? do you have news reports of outrage among muslims? or is this just you getting your PC panties in a twist becos you think you know how they would react, like the suburban white kid pretending to know the ghetto becos he listened to a tupac album once?

I have read that middle eastern leaders are puzzled, but, as I've stated before, this isn't anyone's actual problem with Obama. It's a smaller one of many bigger issues. one of his ACTUAL problems is his fear of being associated to anything muslim. this is just an example of that, and I don't know how someone can be president, if he takes such precautions like this to be associated to people who he'd have to deal with for his presidency...

but you're right, whatever, atleast he's there. I was just clearing up the misconception that people here are angry about a color when it's a bigger issue in general.
