It's subtle anti semitism. Even Martin Luther King said we should not be confused that to be anti zionist is to be anti semitic. The word zionism has been twisted by haters to mean something that it does not. It only means that the Jewish people, butchered for their religious beliefs for thousands of years in Europe in many countries, should have a land of their own they can live in peace. It does not mean the palestinians dont have that same right. That view simply distorts truth and history of which many of these so called anti sionists dont have a grasp of. Why wouldn't it be anti semitic to make the charge that the jews have no right to live in their historically recongized homeland when most of the international community already believes they have that right, and thus provided for the creation of the State of Israel after the near destruction of the Jewish people at the hands of the Germans and their allies? The concept of Israel simply means a safe place for jews to live. Thats all zionism is. And it is fair to presume that if you have a problem with that, deep down, you are simply an anti semite trying to be politcally correct.

Well I disagree. I don't consider myself an anti-zionist but I definetly do not support the manner in which the state of Israel was created. Now if in your eyes that makes me an anti-semite, so be it, I will not loose any sleep over it. I just think it is pretty disgusting the way that term, anti-semite, is thrown around. There is a huge difference between a Nazi and someone who does not agree with the manner in which the state of Israel was created. I also see no difference in someone who is actually an anti-semite and someone who would use that term to shield Israel from any critisism.

Martin Luther King was a bigot. His reasoning was that the Jews are God's chosen people. Uh, I don't believe in God, so that's a bunch of nonsense. Not everyone in the world buys into the God delusion. I also know from reading the Bible and the Talmud that the Jews were banished by God, they lost God's favor.

Martin Luther King was a bigot!!!????? are you serious? where do you come from? what planet are you living on?

MLK simply didn't consider that some of us might not believe in a deity. You are racist though, that's obvious. You are racist against anyone that has an opinion about Israel, Zionism or Jews.

    what race is that exactly?

Hey man, fuck God, there is no fucking God. God is a myth, an ancient fairy tale. I don't appreciate someone trying to tell me that my actions are wrong because of a fucking fairy tale. That's what MLK was saying, I shouldn't criticize Jews, Judaism or Israel because they are God's chosen people. Fuck God and fuck MLK. I'm sick of this theocratic bigotry.

And I think it's wrong that people would dismiss anti-semitism with such ease given its history. you don't have to be a nazi to be an anti-semite. you can be one without going around raving about how much you hate Jews. it's the same as the fact that people who view themselves as good people who don't hate anyone could still have certain beliefs and stereotypes about black people that would be considered racist. bigotry is dangerous because it is not always obvious. so yeah, anti-semitism gets thrown around alot, but there's alot of it out there, and us Jews have learned to be on the look out for it cause we know what it leads to.

I probably know just as well as you do. But I'm not ignorant enough to believe it's without a motivation.

Alright, let me not get pissed off anymore. I want to apologize for using such harsh descriptive words. I know we can communicate this as rational adults.

It's like this, if you go around poking people in the ribs, someone is going to punch you in the face. I'm not saying that punching people in the face is right, but they wouldn't do it, if you didn't poke them in the ribs. Get it?

so it's the Jew's fault that people irrationally hate them because they go around "poking people in the ribs." see this right here is the problem. you're making excuses for racism when there is no excuse for it.

No, I'm not making excuses. I'm identifying the reasons that people act. Listen, in life, people act in certain ways. As individuals we can not control the way others act, we can only control the way we act.

I know that if I go to a bar and deliberately hit on some dudes girl, there is going to be trouble. So I don't do it. I don't think he is in the right for getting violently defensive of his woman, but I know how people react, so I try to avoid it.

Worry about your own actions and try not to instigate people like. I'll tell you, and it's probably apparent. I get awefully sick of people flinging anti-semitist stickers on anyone that mentions Israel in a critical manner. It leads me to believe that that's all Israelis know how to do. It doesn't stick, there is no substance to those claims, it's just fucking annoying.

I'm not dismissing anti-semitism, but I believe the term does get thrown around a bit much. Also for you information I know the history of anti-semetism. My ancestors where Spainish Jews who where forced to convert to Christianity or suffer. So there is need to preach to me about anti-semetism. Also as a hispanic I've had to face racism as well. So I know how to see behind a veil that some racist may hide behind. It was never much of an issue on this board, as of lately though it has, where any disagreement with Israel or any hint of not being pro-zionist automatically gets you branded an anti-semite, which I find repulsive. I'm sure you would not approve of me calling everyone who is in favor of deporting illegal immigranst racist simply because the majority are hispanic.

Actually you could make out a logical argument that anti-immigration is anti hispanic. Their is a very fine line in today's world between what is and what is not racism. It's alive and well. It's just behind different walls and calling itself different names. How about "ethnic cleansing"? Remember that one? Not too long ago. But what was it? An excuse to kill based on religion.
That shit is real. The reality is that in today's world, as opposed to say, the world of the 1930's, it is not politically correct to attack "the jews" as a group. But some people, not all people, find it ok to vent what is really their anti jewish disposition, which is still particularly entrenched in Europe, by instead attacking a state; Israel. I think there are a handful of people, and I wont name names, who are doing that rather than have a meaningful political discussion. That's what pisses me off....For a jew to not be offended by uninformed attacks on Israel is like saying to an Englishmans face that you hate England. Well of course the Englishman will pour his shitty Ale all over your head because he is, after all, English. He is going to be offended.

I am no apologist for Israel any more than I am an apologist for America....being an American. I did not vote for Bush in either election, yet now I have a bad rap abroad because I have an idiot for a President. It's not a nice feeling.

The point is, there is nothing wrong with a healthy political debate. But there just seems to be a lack of information by a handful of those on this board who seem as equally obsessed with attacking Israel's politics as those who are equally as obsessed with defending it.

To the attackers I would say this, if you really just hate jews, just say it. Otherwise, just shut the fuck up with this Israel crap unless you know anything about the history other than what you pick up on a two minute television story. Is that too much to ask?
