That's my worry over a club for whites - It'll probably turn into a "we're so much better than everyone else cos we're white" type of club where they just sit and list out ways they think they are better, which usually involves hating others and finding ways of justifying that hate through the old so-called "high IQ" argument, as is usually the case with these people. I find that white supremacists usually end up acting on their beliefs in some negative racist way against others, and the club could be fuelling supremacist attitudes for the future with no redress for their views.

a white cultural and heritage club would be a little bit redundant don't you think. Everything I've learnt so far in terms of education, media and literature has always been about white culture and heritage. There seems to be a distinct lack of knowledge disseminated on asian, latino and black culture and heritage. However, I don't think that's the point of the discussion. The discussion is more about if it is racist to have a white culture and heritage club and i don't think it is as long as it isn't mutually exclusive to white people.

Lord knows we need another organization to remind us that we're all a little different.

I'm going to form an organization of my own some day...The National Association for Terminally Stuck People. It's going to be all-inclusive. The only catch is that you have to have a firm belief that your racial heritage has any legitimate value or meaning in the grand scheme of the universe.

This is a bright shining example of why Black history and heritage clubs are not only acceptable, but IMPERATIVE! This poster should join one. Try this for starters.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. What the hell are they teaching people in school these days?? Especially with comments like this. No wonder my parents gave me extra reading on black and native american history outside of school, because it obviously wasn't being tauhgt in the classroom. It's amazing how some peolpe thing the US became the country it is today without the help of native americans and my ancestors (african slaves and indentured servents).

"I think she's doing this for the right reasons, but what's going to happen when she graduates? What's it going to turn into?" said Mr. Turner, who added he was speaking for himself and not the NAACP.

He suggested that she change the name to the European-American Club so that the focus would be on heritage, not race.

Lou Calabro, president of the European-American Issues Forum, said he spoke with Lisa on Wednesday when she called to ask for advice.

Since then, he's become an informal adviser for the would-be club. On Friday, he sent letters to two civil-rights organizations requesting an investigation of the school administration.

In the letters, he accused Principal Eric Volta of "resisting the formation of the club" because it "would upset the alleged current positive feelings at the school," said Mr. Calabro in a letter to the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights.

He cited e-mail he received from Lisa on Friday describing her difficulty in finding an adviser for the club and threats from other students. She also said that teachers are allowing students to place fliers around campus criticizing her campaign.

"She's scared," said Mr. Calabro, who said he receives three to five letters a month from students interested in starting such clubs. "One white football player called her [obscene epithets]. Others are calling her names. She's only 15, so naturally she's upset."
