i know what the word distinct means...when you use it to describe how something is connoted (here, distinctly connotes) it means clearly, obviously, without argument...what else can distinct mean? it doesn't mean "i think a word connotes . . . ." i am not judging YOU, i am judging how you use words. what is your "purpose" or your "intent" here? coitus, in the general term, is a synonym of intercourse because intercourse falls into a specific act which is encompassed by coitus. because coitus is general, it only connotes an act of penetration and not "distinctly connote[]" something more specific.

In my personal opinion, it is distinct.

Are you familiar with the dictionary definitions that do expressly use the word coitus to describe penis/vaginal sex? It is perfectly valid for me to use the applicable definition. It is my opinion on which definition I choose. And still each definition stands on its own, accurately.
