But not all Muslims are brown-skinned guys from the middle east. Like I said considering how big the Muslim world I don't really think it would be difficult for Al-Quada to find guys who have a different skin colour than Bin-Laden. They were based in Sudan before they moved to Afghanistan. The biggest Muslim country in the world (population wise) is Indonesia. You don't think they could find a black guy or an East-Asian looking guy who shares their beliefs? If my enemy told me they were only looking for people of a certain skin colour or origin, I would damn sure find people to work for me that don't fit that profile.

To use an extreme example would you rather an airport security guard give extra special attention to the Arabic looking guy who is calm and doesn't seem to be a risk just because of his skin colour or the black guy who is sweating and is wearing a funny looking vest?

Agreed, also.

Plus, using the label "pc" is the about the same lack of discernment...people see the "pc" label, and block their ability to discern information and details.

yeah, and by trying to be nondiscriminatory as well as nonintrusive we have forgotton how to protect ourselves, I think.

I am not "pro war" and I certainly understand that innocent people get killed. They go everyday.

The irony is that those of us who are speaking against racial profiling are speaking about actually getting to the bottom of things, rather than giving ourselves pat answers and a false sense of security. When people look beyond the labels and preconceptions, they can actually see....

There are two kinds of discriminate...one means to categorize people based on group, rather than merit, which is the opposite of understanding facts.

The other kind of "discriminate" is used in the same way I used the word "discern"...which means to actually understand the merits of a situation beyond the labels and categories that blind many.

Correction: People are innocent until proven guilty.

Civilized and reasoned individuals, when being reasonable, do not make rash, potentially dangerous and life altering decisions based on emotional arguments, but rather use reason. And with reason, dangerous errors do not happen.

When people are driven by fear and emotional argument it becomes about fueling the lynch mob mentality. Personally, when I watch movies, I always cheer for the one individual who speaks reasonbly, and who makes sense, even when the lynch mob continues on with dangerous error.

so you think it's understandable to pull a 'middle eastern looking' person aside and ask them questions, search their luggage, look up records, physical search....and take their time about doing it?

so if you visited some country and they said hey, americans are war mongers who don't even care their elected leaders lied to them to gain approval to illegally attack and occupy a foreign country...and did this to you, you'd be cool and at the end shake their hands and say you know they did what they had to do?

I don't say I believe this is what people in charge will do at all. Frankly, I'm alarmed at how human beings perpetuate their problems and blame others for it.

I see this as being because people attach to ideologies, rather than understand and respond to what actually happens.

But the truth is no one is that black and white and if they are then they are really not thinking.

When it comes down to each choice, people will choose emotional arguments or reason. And will also choose to play out the consequences of such choice.

The solution will not magically appear. It's up to each of us to rise to the occasion and bring our top ideals to the table. As long as we continue with complacency, poor judgment, excuses, and expect the immaculate image of a leader to save us, we're perpetuating the illusions and will continue to live in the darkness.

hint: there is no leader to save us from ourselves.
