It's a shame when a thread that could have spurred an interesting discussion of a serious topic degenerates into name-calling bullshit and arguments over irrelevant issues.

    Thanks a lot, macgyver.

    you really dont know?

how about maturity, live experience, brain development. to name a few.

whats the difference between a 3 year old and 45 year old?

When it comes to war... they all are lost and all bleed the same... Its as tragic for an 18 year old as for a 12 year old...

sure it sucks - and it seems insane to see a 12 year old with a gun.. its the same to me with 18 year olds...

I would feel as ill knowing my sons - now 18 were at war - as I would have if they were 12...

at 18 they are better able to look out for themselves, unfortunately in war you are forced to let others do that.. at 12 or at 18

is it the AK47 that is being used or modifications..or AK47 Siblings....there's no way the AK47 is being used and in production, these have to be different guns
Why do you think that the AK-47 is not still in production..........it is the most successful firearm ever created in terms of numbers produced. It is designed to be cheap (a major factor in 3rd world countries), easy to operate (see previous comment), have an extremely field life (see previous comment) and rugged (see previous comment again). Nearly every former Soviet client state has produced their own version in their home country....this includes the former Yugoslavia, Albania and now the former Soviet republics.

Every weapon produced as probably had some field modifications done to it at some point.

    Nope..........these are the same weapon.........the AK-47.

I was referring to you being on the losing side of a 4-page argument about AK47s (they are still being produced, and are probably the most widely-used weapon in the world), and resorting to name-calling rather than citing facts and sources. If your goal is to inform people, you're doing a piss-poor job of it ... you've provided no information whatsoever.

Not sure.......it is possible that they give a different name, but the weapon is still an AK-47.

These things are so cheap and so prevalent that I could have purchased one (illegally) off the street in Birmingham, Alabama for right around $100 in 1990.

The Russians maybe...........and possibly the Chinese, but I suspect that the North Koreans aren't investing in small arms design. The fact that there were billions of these weapons produced over the decades means that they aren't going away anytime soon.

They are all the same basic design created in the 1940s. It's just like car designs shared by manufacturers such as the Ford Escape SUV and whatever the Mazda version was called. There were a few cosmetic differences, but at the heart of the design they were the exact same vehicle.

You said that they are "not a contender in any wars going on right now," which is ridiculous.

Anyway, I'm through with this thread ... 5 pages now, and you've still not provided even one little snippet of information, or even a coherent opinion.

compared to the rifles out there...the rifles we use..and explosives...i dont think the AK47 stands a chance against them... THAT IS NOT RIDICULOUS!

The Ak is unreliable..it gets hot to the point you cant pick it up becasue its gas powered...its not very accurate...its dangerous to! these things explode in your hand in sustained fire..

but its bullets are the size of your mom..thats the only advantage which isnt anything nowadays..

and just as tragic for a 25, 35, 45 year old. thats not the point. no one is claiming its less/more tragic.

wouldnt you be more confident in knowing your 18 year old was out there then 12? the mental and physical matureness is 10 fold. not in all cases, but most.

forced to let others look out for you? what the hell does that mean? 18 year old can look out for themselves MUCH better then 12. that is a fact.

you really are an expert on this issue. you seriously should consider being a consultant for rogue states and army militias
