okay...admittedly, you've got an actual point here!!
I'll backtrack and give sweetpotato a serious answer:angelica wrote:sweetpotato wrote:when this mutual-admiration masturbation orgy is over, can someone answer my question?
Wait...that's not it.......
ALERT: Real Answer!:

I believe the problem is that no one CAN answer that question without admitting that Nader truly doesnt care about creating a viable third party (unless its called the Ego party).0 -

The others, however, have spoken for what they see. Because someone doesn't answer to your agenda, or sweetpotato's or my2hands, doesn't automatically slot them into a position you'd like them to be in. It shows they have a different agenda."The opposite of a fact is falsehood, but the opposite of one profound truth may very well be another profound truth." ~ Niels Bohr

too funny. how many questions have my2hands and other obama supporters failed to answer?? maybe i should take the angle you all take and just start to cry about how mean you are and scream 'i don't owe an explanation to you!!!!!!!' then talk about passing pm's back and forth at the unfair treatment of asking me defend my beliefs?
why hasn't obama done ANYTHING w/ his time in the senate other than going on a media tour missing almost 1/2 the votes???
and i started a thread months ago asking for obama supporters to give me some reasons to vote for him over anyone else. no one could do it. just like you guys can't do it when i put you on the spot and ask why you support him. other than the moving, groundbreaking dissertation of 'he's the only realistic option, get over it!!'
maybe he sees the issues he pushes in between cycles as more important or maybe he hopes ppl will start supporting better candidates.
what do you want him to do exactly.
maybe we should compare resumes of nader and obama? what has obama done, other than go to court to get everyone else thrown off so he could run in his senate race unopposed??? he lies about being involved in bills, he lies about lobbyists, he lied about rezko....
sorry, but there's so many questions on obama i've asked you guys and none of you could EVER give an answer, so it seems a bit funny to see you guys here demanding answers when you steadfastly refuse to ever give any yourselves.
also, where are the anti libertarian threads? a few weeks ago ppl were bitching that nader took too long to start running which proved he wasn't serious, but didn't the libertarians just pick their nominee???? so why aren't ppl up in arms about that and questioning their intentions?? i think i know why, tho i doubt you'll be truthful about itstandin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
eager to identify with
someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way0 -

I've answered the "why I'm voting for Obama" question a couple of times....oh well...
I'll say this, Nader has done some good things, hooray for him, but...he's very very very far to the left...I want someone in the middle...
as for the lack of Libertarian threads, I'm not sure I understand your point...I would be willing to bet the McCain folks may be more upset than Obama folks...
also, Libertarians have been consistent in attempting to build there party, they just don't show up every for years and say "hey, look at me"....0 -
i think the burden is on nader and/or his supporters to answer the question since he's the one who's bucking the established system and saying it's shit. it's like a court case. you're the prosecutors, we're the defendants, if you will. you've basically pointed at us- democrats, republicans, whatever- and said that we're fools to support our chosen candidates because YOURS is so much more honest, genuine, smart, a good cook, a helluva lay... whatever. it's YOUR responsibility to prove your case against the rest of us."Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States, Barack Obama."

and we have.
we can't make you agree with us, though. all wr can do is say what we've been saying about the guy. and everything you just said up there can be applied to Obama supporters, as well.If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Neither does Nader, as has been pointed out numerous times. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

So you're defending the system that Obama's campaign is so focused on changing?Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.0 -
sweetpotato wrote:i'm not trying to give you a hard time here, i swear to god, but which issues is he raising that anyone besides his supporters is aware of? and where exactly is he raising them? i haven't heard a peep out of him since he announced his candidacy. can you really blame the media and news outlets entirely? doesn't he need to spend some money in order to get his "message" out there? where is he???
well, for example, he was on The Daily Show not long after he announced his candidacy this year, and he raised the issue of how the 2 parties have rigged the political system so that 3rd party and independent candidates have a much harder time just trying to get onto the ballot, nevermind getting fair airtime, and getting into debates. he goes into great detail about this, and he also goes into more detail on any issue that Obama, Clinton and McCain will go into, such the war, the economy, etc.
but i guess you're right that he hasn't made a splash recently. i don't know the reasons for that. i can suppose that the prolonged Democratic nomination process is sucking up media attention.0 -

At the rally in Seattle he said he and his staff have made requests to go on some different shows (I don't remember exactly which ones, except Charlie Rose) and he has been turned down.
The reason he has been given is that they aren't hearing from viewers that they would like to see Ralph Nader.
So to my fellow Ralph Nader supporters and any others who would like to see this man on the tele, please send your letters, emails and make your phone calls to the program(s) of your choice. Demand to see Ralph!!!
Personally, I'd like to see him on Iconoclasts.Walking can be a real trip

Actually he should be teamed up with Arundhati Roy(one of my heroes). That would be a wonderful show!

I was thinking Lorne Michaels of SNL, 'cause I think the pairings are supposed to know each other or have a history of admiring one another.
I think it would be a good way to remind people that Ralph Nader has a sense of humor.Walking can be a real trip
