i am too!
b/c i would think it's not only the bands/music...but also the album and/or poster artwork they are paying tribute to as well. i love seeing artistic influence, even blatant tribute/homage to a particular artist.Stay with me...

In the same way that Pearl Jam pays homage to the bands/artists that inspire them and paved the way for rock and roll (both through covers and through many of their original songs with either musical or lyrical references) AMES is referencing the same bands, but also referencing some classic poster/album art that no doubt has influenced them in the art that they create.
If people have a problem with this, then they should have a problem with Pearl Jam playing Reign Over Me or Rockin' in the Free World.Minneapolis : 06/30/1998 - Chicago : 10/09/2000 - Vancouver : 05/30/2003 - Fargo : 06/15/2003 - Winnipeg : 09/08/2005 - Thunder Bay : 09/09/2005 - St. Paul : 06/26/2006 - Chicago : 08/23/2009 - Chicago : 08/24/20090 -
I'm loving this homage! Usually, I DO prefer Klausen prints, but this is definitely a sweet idea that Ames is doing. Me likey!0

Paying tribute to those who came before. It happens in every walk of life, why should posters be different?
I think this round of posters has been extraordinary. They have really outdone themselves.~!~ Peace ~!~ Love ~!~ Pearl Jam ~!~0 -
BTW I'll be away from my computer today--if someone can pick me up an extra Columbia poster from Ames Bros today, I'd be very grateful.0

You know...just to keep the debate going a smidge...their Bonnaroo gig poster (not the PJ skull) reminded me a lot of this promo poster I came across for Liam Finn - see here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380033645642&ssPageName=ADME:B:DBS:US:1123#ebayphotohosting

it's a common quote/thought/saying, but in this case it is directly from U2's song 'acrobat' from Achtung Baby.s

We're seriously asking this? Our world is becoming too sensitive... there use to be a thing called paying homage to something...
Now plagiarism is when a stupid kid rips off a paper or entire chunks of text and calls it their own..."A man has the right to be as big as he feels it in him to be." Ken Kesey0 -

LOL! Plagiarism?!? Are you people that fucking dense?
Definitely my favorite of the tour so far and it's a great homage/tip of the cap to the Clash.0 -
Hopefully MSG will get a Ramones homage.:D0

To be clear - I am in no way insinuating plagiarism, etc. I posted the Liam image to draw an interesting parallel between the Bonnaroo image and the Liam poster.0
