A thought regarding Palin

I wonder how many of these Hollyweird goofs that are slamming her had even heard of her two months ago?
I think they are so fearful of her popularity, of which may be equal or higher than Obama's, that they are pulling out anything that they can to try to save their buddy Obama. They know she is a serious threat otherwise they wouldn't be wasting the energy that they are on her.
Just a thought, no musician or celebrity could ever influence my voting decisions.
Just a simple 'thank you' for writing this.~*~Me and Hippiemom dranketh the red wine in Cleveland 2003~*~

Speaking of which, why does it seem to me that it's consistently conservatives who bring up what celebrities are saying about politics, but then are sure to tell us that they'd never influence their vote? If not, then why bother bringing it up?0

I have done this in the past. I wouldn't classify myself as conservative, but I've done it. Personally, I bring it up because I find it (them) funny. They think people "care" or they wouldn't be doing it. I see no difference between their opinion and a gas station attendent's in Omaha. They just have the soapbox. But, I believe they think their opinion is carries more weight then the general voter because they "think" they have superior intellect. I find the whole thing funny.... (this is a generalization but) most of "them" are highschool dropouts who are now rich as F.0 -

If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're 'exotic,
different.'
Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American story.
If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.
Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well
grounded.
If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the
first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration
drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with
over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council
and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months
as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to
become the country's second highest ranking executive.
If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising
2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real
Christian. If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your
disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a
Christian.
If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.
If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no
other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed
teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.
If your wife is a Harvard graduate laywer who gave up a position in a
prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city
community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.
If you're husband is nicknamed 'First Dude', with at least one DWI
conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age
25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.
OK, much clearer now.

I couldn't have said this better myself. How anyone could vote McCain/Palin in 2008 is just a total mind fuck.
This shouldn't even be a conversation at this point.

All these neocons that argue experience between Palin and Obama seem to forget that Obama was voted into the position he's in by the American people. Palin was picked by McCain's cronies.
She is a flat out joke, so is anyone who tries to defend her.0 -
I've not read this whole thread, but what I feel most for Sarah Palin is EMPATHY. Empathy, and pity. I feel bad for her! Because I have to figure that somewhere, probably when she was very young, something flat-out horrible (and most likely, sexual) happened to her. And that she's been trying to "make up" for that (shouldering blame that is not hers) her entire life.
I've no basis for this opinion, no hard and fast evidence. It's just the impression that I get, seeing her on television, watching her be interviewed. And I AM tired of the partisan bickering, the "Us vs. Them" philosophy of our political system. I don't want that. I want her (and others, on "that side" of the debate) to know that I still consider them people, just as equal as anyone else. And that when their kids gets shot in Iraq, those are my kids, too.
And I really hope that when this is all over, her daughter has a better life than the one the media's forced on her, so far.0 -

Many want to hang on to they're precious coins and can't bear to see one dollar to go to a minority. All very simple.

I am actually from Alaska. Born and raised in Fairbanks. I have relatives who grew up in Wasilla and I have been there to visit them on many occasions. In my view, (trust me I am not alone here) that place can best be described as the "trailer park" of Alaskan towns. If it can be possible to catagorize an entire city as "white trash" this would be the place. Sarah Palin is exactly the kind of person who would win an election there. Now here she is just a few short years later, on the verge of the vice presidency. Hopefully the American people as a whole will collectively wake up and say "what the hell were we thinking?"0

Love you to Cincy.
Did say many, not all and people that support Obama have the same need for justification.
I'm sure my views are skewed as well...but how someone can in anyway justify giving Palin any chance whatsoever of becoming President....I just dont' know...its baffling. Palin's popularity has crested. However, even so, she remains bigger news than McCain overall. He may become bigger news than she if it's true he would have enough pull to stop the $700 Billion Bailout if he so chose. But, for the time being, it's disturbing to think the VP to this point in time is driving the election harder than the actual candidate for president. It's pretty weird when a no-name from nowhere who doesn't want the press to cover anything of import that she says is of bigger interest than the Man Who Would be King, Stage III. It's perverse, to say the least.0
