I wonder how many of these Hollyweird goofs that are slamming her had even heard of her two months ago?
I think they are so fearful of her popularity, of which may be equal or higher than Obama's, that they are pulling out anything that they can to try to save their buddy Obama. They know she is a serious threat otherwise they wouldn't be wasting the energy that they are on her.
Just a thought, no musician or celebrity could ever influence my voting decisions.

I agree with your points on Palin however....thus far. I am a very conservative Democrat, and equally a Liberal Republican. I hate being "Labled." I personally vote my conscience.
While I do understand (at least from PJ's Tampa concert) that EV is a screaming Obama Fan. Good for him. However - Obama discusts me personally.
With all of that said - I personally like Sarah Palin. I like her straightforwardness, I like that she's female.....and I like that I can somewhat relate to her. Being a complete VEGAN - I don't agree with the "hunting" thing she does. ((Nor the "Moose Stew" she says she loves) -However - she lives in ALASKA! That's what people do there. Again - I wholeheartededly disagree with with the "hunting" thing. But I am sure Obama doesn't mind pushing his personal chair up to some murdered turkey or cow when he eats. To me personally - slaughterhouses are much worse.

First, I have to wonder what is so disgusting about Obama that would make you not vote for him. I should say, I understand not voting for him, disbelieving his positions on the issues, but 'disgusting' is kind of a strange way of putting it. I wouldn't vote for John McCain or Sarah Palin in a hundred years, but I wouldn't say they disgust me.
The thing about Palin that I don't understand is that you didn't mention one issue in what attracts you to her. I don't see that asking that makes me a flaming liberal, or an elitist, but if you feel that way that's not my intention, but so be it. What does it matter that she's a female, or a hunter? As a self-described Liberal Republican, what about her positions on the social issues attract her to you? I suppose I'm just not seeing what a liberal Republican/conservative Democrat would see if they were basing the decision on the issues. I'd love to know that position on it.

What's an INCOMPLETE VEGAN? What's your thoughts on abortion or the death penality since Obama might murder a chicken or a turkey?

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make with the teenager comment.
I mainly post in the musicians forum and AMT. The musicians forum is not as busy as the other forums. There are a couple of 'teenagers' in particular who are great kids. Real switched on and very appreciative of the help that we give them there. Just good people you know?

I don't mind too much what obama eats, i'm not basing my vote on his dining habits. I'm basing my vote on which candidate has the policies that are most closely aligned to my views.
To each his own - and I personally don't care what anyone on this thread says.
I do care and take an interest in what others say. Granted, i don't always agree, and can be quite outspoken in my views, but i do think i am at least receptive to having an open mind for a different view. Sometimes we have to just accept that people see things differently, and move along.
I've not read this whole thread, but what I feel most for Sarah Palin is EMPATHY. Empathy, and pity. I feel bad for her! Because I have to figure that somewhere, probably when she was very young, something flat-out horrible (and most likely, sexual) happened to her. And that she's been trying to "make up" for that (shouldering blame that is not hers) her entire life.
I've no basis for this opinion, no hard and fast evidence. It's just the impression that I get, seeing her on television, watching her be interviewed. And I AM tired of the partisan bickering, the "Us vs. Them" philosophy of our political system. I don't want that. I want her (and others, on "that side" of the debate) to know that I still consider them people, just as equal as anyone else. And that when their kids gets shot in Iraq, those are my kids, too.
And I really hope that when this is all over, her daughter has a better life than the one the media's forced on her, so far.
No offense to you here.. but one thing I do not feel toward her is pity or empathy. I have been trying to be informed and have been trying to get as much information on her as is possible and the conclusion I come up with is that she seems a bit ruthless.. she has a clear agenda. She is power hungry. She is clique-ish. She awards only loyalty, not necessarily good work.. but how loyal you are to her. She is conyving. She is a proven liar also. I do not trust her what so ever and I am terrified if she is the one taking that call at 3 am.
She is no one I would want my daughter to look up to as a role model.
You feel sorry for her daughter.. should that not have been something she considered BEFORE she choose to take the offer of VP? She had to know it would come out and that her daughter would be in the news.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not sure what you're asking me. I asked in response to your description of the positive qualities of Palin what issues there were that moved you towards her, because you didn't mention any. I also wondered what had caused you to be 'disgusted' by Obama, because that's a pretty strong word. And I don't see what my support for Obama or any other candidate has to do with those questions. I didn't know that I was supposed to list each and every reason I support an opposing candidate before I ask someone about their views. But if you need an explanation about why I support Obama it's in this thread, about 3/4 down the page; http://forums.pearljam.com/showthread.php?t=303938. Can we return to the first question then?
Exactly what do you see in Sarah Palin that you deem fit in regards to your social concerns?

How is someone asking you a question personally attacking you? Both the people who have responded to your posts (myself and QuestionAuthority) have been completely respectful, whereas you've been rude and dismissive. Who's personally attacking who? Quit playing the victim, please. I asked you a bunch of perfectly legitimate questions. Don't want to answer them? Fine, but don't try to spin this as me "attacking" you.

All this banter about VP candidate Sarah Palin reminds me of the song by the Heavy Metal bandPRONG *Contradictions*

Man I'm not smoking anything right now but come December when I head off to South Florida to my second home for 6 months. Yes I'll be smoking up a storm as I pass Jupiter on my way to that far away galaxy THE Sombrero Galaxy.
Just bringing a different perspective/a musical perspective to all this banter in this very important election year. Sort of like an election time out, an opportunity to breath then have at it again. I sort of disbanded this election once my candidate of choice Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul dropped out and we are left with the two candidates we must choose from.
I wasn't going to vote but I've now chosen to get involved weed out the truth about these candidates and make a choice based on what I believe they can do for me and this country.
That said they're ALL the same fucking wolves in sheep disguises though.

Ok.. to each his own.. but YOU came to a webSITE to post an opinion and in return you insulted the webSITE, forum and plus the people who post on it.. does not make alot of sense. I do not feel personally attacked because I feel that Sarah Palin would be an awful person in office ~ it is a matter of choice.
This forum is for one to DEBATE issues.. learning from each other.. you want to declare your "DISCUST" (I am assuming you mean disgust, but you have incorrectly spelled it twice) for Obama and that you would never vote for him.. that is your CHOICE.. but you should not get offended when someone asks for your reasoning.

Thank you for your reply. First - "Question Authority" is a complete PETA term. I feel I was respectful and NOT "rude" and " dismissive." I certainly don't think I'm a victim -and am trying to be an adult. YOU are the one "spinning." Explain why you dislike Sarah Palin (whom is not the Presidential candidate) and then also explain why you feel that Obama is the best choice. I'm open to reconsider (although I doubt my opinion will change). To me, Obama is nothing but words. McCain puts Palin to the microphone and lets her do his talking. Both canidates suck. In my personal opinion however - Obama sucks worse. The upcoming debates will speak for themselves. And for the "Victim Remark" - Go FY!

My user name, QuestionAuthority has nothing to do with PETA. It has to do with exactly what is says.. questioning authority. I have no idea why it is you declared it to be a PETA term.
I think everyone who has responded to you in this thread, which you declared that you did not read, has shown why they dislike Sarah Palin.
What I find amazing is from your profile you declare yourself an animal rights advocate, a PETA member.. yet you support someone who totally opposes what seems to be a passion of yours. Tell me.. what does PETA think of Palin's stance on shooting wolves from helicopters? What does PETA think of the huge dead bear she has draped proudly over her couch in the governor's office?

I capitalized the section where you declared that you would be and were being 'personally attacked'. I'd be perfectly willing to explain where I disagree with Sarah Palin on the issues, but yet you are pressuring me to answer questions whereas you haven't answered one of mine, questions I once again were asked in a very respectful manner. Once again, you said good things about Palin and didn't mention one issue. I asked what issues attracted you to her. I then asked what disgusted you about Obama. I'm repeating myself here, but if you do not want to answer, fine. But again, do not be rude towards me by pretending that I 'attacked' you in any way, shape or form, when looking at my posts it is clearly not the case.
And since in my first reply, I gave you a detailed reasoning for why I chose Obama, but you didn't go to the thread, here it is. Would you be willing to answer one of my questions now?....
"I'm voting for Obama.
"For one, I strongly believe the country may be irrevocably damaged if we have another President similar to George W. Bush. This is not a swipe against McCain; I'm sure he'd be more competent. But nevertheless the policies are remarkably similar, and we can have no more of it. Obama's background I find very appealing as a presidental candidate. As a community organizer he would've learned (as I am doing now) the necessity of building bipartisan coalitions and compromising to achieve objectives. This also shows me that he's actually spent time with people less well-off in our nation, working directly with them to solve problems. He's a constitutional law expert, which I think would be a lovely change of pace.
On the issues we seem to agree mightily; I agree with him that health care should be made affordable by the U.S. Government, and there should be a plan for everyone to buy into, but that you should not force people to change from their private coverage if you don't want to. I agree with him on the two main Homeland Security issues, that our ports need to be radically overhauled to be able to detect dangerous material, and that the most dangerous thing we have to work towards preventing is the acqusition of a nuclear/biological weapon on the black market by a terrorist group who then uses it in the U.S. I agree with him that there needs to be more focus on Afghanistan and less on Iraq, and it should not be discounted that he was entirely right about what was going to happen in Iraq in the following five years when most people, including some experts in the highest level of government, were dead wrong. On the biggest foreign policy decision of our time, Obama nailed it, and our sitting president did not.
In terms of energy, which is going to probably be one of the biggest issues, if not the biggest issue facing our country, Obama again gets it right. Energy is connected to everything, foreign policy, economics, etc. Simply opening offshore drilling stations here in America is not the answer; there won't be enough oil, it will take too long to have a positive impact on the price and we won't adjust our economy quick enough. And this is the only time I'll be negative; I just simply don't believe John McCain when he says we'll invest equally in offshore drilling and alternative energy. His record doesn't show it. Obama's record does, and he's right in that we need a new New Deal, one framed upon the basic tenet that our economy needs to afford us leverage when dealing with fundamentalist dictatorships in the Middle East and needs to protect ourselves and our planet. He's got the plans.
Finally, he's inspiring as a leader. This is often dismissed by his critics, but isn't one of the most important things a leader has to do is inspire his or her citizens? I believe that national service will improve drastically under his watch, our reputation in the world will be restored after a dark eight years, and we will be better equipped and better allied in military and diplomatic conflicts with our enemies."

See that's what happens when one assumes.
I appears her disgust for Obama far outweighs her liking of Sarah Palin and her activities in the wild towards animals and the great outdoors. Must be some other driving force but I may not like Obama or McCain but they sure don't digust me. let's hope that person can give an answer.

Consider the source that you quoted, he is known for tossing out the racism card often. I was accused of it as well by him because I support strengthening our border to keep illegal aliens out, as one of the things to do to fix that problem.
I also called him out for being one of this boards internet tough guys who likes to call people names that he doesn't agree with. I always considered Pearl Jam fans a little more refined, he is proof that even neanderthals like the music.

I'm sorry, but i find that incredibly funny. Singling one person out as the 'internet tough guy' is really unfair. Have you ever visited the 'porch' when posters and concert tickets have been on sale? Refined is hardly the word i would use to describe some of the people there . It's like too many freaks and not enough circuses. Unbelievable.
Ok, so you have been rather vocal about brandon10, and as the starter of this thread, i'm sure you are keen for it to continue.
Peace

I mainly post in the musicians forum and AMT. The musicians forum is not as busy as the other forums. There are a couple of 'teenagers' in particular who are great kids. Real switched on and very appreciative of the help that we give them there. Just good people you know? I'm guessing most people would be voting their conscience. I don't give a rats ass who Ed is a fan of. That has no influence over my political preferences at all. I just see eddie vedder as a brilliant and talented musician. i enjoy being a fan. i am not a disciple.
Why does obama disgust you? I don't mind too much what obama eats, i'm not basing my vote on his dining habits. I'm basing my vote on which candidate has the policies that are most closely aligned to my views. I do care and take an interest in what others say. Granted, i don't always agree, and can be quite outspoken in my views, but i do think i am at least receptive to having an open mind for a different view. Sometimes we have to just accept that people see things differently, and move along.

Hhhhmmmmm.....
Here we go - something I wanted to avoid. Nothing personal. So don't take it that way. However -I didn't see you defend anything about your so obvious candidate. And- you remain nothing to me - nor your opinion of me. You are just words on a websight. I welcome you to defend Obama and his policies (cough - cough). My social concerns outweigh whichever person you peronally deem fit....

Exactly what do you see in Sarah Palin that you deem fit in regards to your social concerns?
As individual fingers we can easily be broken, but together we make a mighty fist ~ Sitting Bull
I realized that I put myself "out there" by replying to this thread. One will no doubt be personally attacked by those whom disuade from the majority (of this websight). It's a matter of choice. And I choose to use the word "discust" when I think of voting for Obama. I will NEVER vote for OBAMA!!!! And I don't have to explain it to anybody. Thanks for asking me to however. I don't want to debate this. It is what it is. Period....the end. But much love to you in your decison(s).

You made a comment about their being a lot of kids here. But I'd prefer a kid with his/her head on their shoulders to your old racist ass.
Peace

Ok.. to each his own.. but YOU came to a webSITE to post an opinion and in return you insulted the webSITE, forum and plus the people who post on it.. does not make alot of sense.

I wasn't. Sorry, I couldn't help myself. You can read through that racism a mile away. And it disgusts me.
I have a feeling you hit the nail here..

"Empty pockets will Allow a greater Sense of wealth...." EV/ITW
As individual fingers we can easily be broken, but together we make a mighty fist ~ Sitting Bull
To add, what does PETA think of Palin wanting to take Polar Bears off the endangered list so oil companies can drill in anwar?
Not that I think Rose would really care.

Peace

I don't know if you just made that up......but those words sound like they could be great lyrics.
That's the problem with great music, everyone loves it.
Ok, so you have been rather vocal about brandon10, and as the starter of this thread, i'm sure you are keen for it to continue. Would you agree that Rose1963 was unreasonable from the very beginning, she/he came into the thread with a giant chip on their shoulder and was never interested in debating to start off with?
