I am hoping his supporters will be able to overwhelm me with his detailed agenda...

    Tell me how you think this man would not be a strong leader, get things done and be quite organized and thorough about it. His body of work is proof positive that he has always fought the odds and never gave up in the name of social justice and the good fight....even with all the pressure he has had stacked against him by big business and money/power, he has always done as much for the public as he could.

    i'll bet you a dollar to a fucking doughnut he has had some associations with someone who has said some crazy ass shit. Better condemn Nader for what that person said, whether he agrees with it or not, and then talk about nothing else. ;)

    I've already said he hasn't laid about specifics just yet on his site but he did just announce last month. And looking at his past accomplishments, I have complete confidence that he knows how to get the job done. His direction and stance on the issues that are the most important to me is enough for now because the other guys aren't even addressing them. He has a record long and true of getting the job done and putting the people's interests on top.

    Do you think Nader is incapable of being President even after seeing his resume of leadership and victories for the common man? How is Nader less qualified than Obama? What has Obama done for the american people? I think Nader is much MORE qualified, actually and has proven himself time and time again.


    And what good is Obama's 'plans' when he has a history of saying one thing and then doing/voting another way?

    Some of his non profits have unionized, actually. And the case of Nader's union busting was brought out by two employees who had been fired already for running an article in which Nader hadn't approved yet. So it's their word against his...and they were disgruntled employees.

    Also, as you well know, non profits have tight resources...even if Nader did bust up a union inside a non profit it is understandable bc how else is he going to keep these groups afloat with such limited resources. They are non-profits for a reason...because they aren't about making money, they are in place to further a cause. I posted a nice piece about the struggles of non-profit groups with unions which didn't get any respones.

    If a cause isn't worth the 60 hour work week at 13k per year, then it isn't a cause, really. But I'm just yankin' your chain. I've got nothing against Nader.

    it is a thread to list Ralph Naders plan, agenda, and ideas as President of the United States... this is for all the Nader supporters to showcase his specific ideas on how to address the issues...

    To pay for Universal Health Care Nader has said he may tax things we don't like, pollution for example.

    He is also willing to debate the idea of taxing stock market transactions, where trillions change hands every day.

    He will also deal with the bloated defense budget and end corporate handouts.

    The neo-liberal ideology that has gripped Washington since Reagan or so will become much more conservative.

    Please explain how Nader will get his ideas into reality. Specifically, as President he does not make the laws and pass budgets - that is the role of Congress. Nader cannot say i want blah blah and it just happens. How will Nader get the Democrats and Republicans in Congress to enact his ideas?

    By lobbying to congress, bringing to light the huge injustices we face and having the balls to stand up for the people's will.

    The same thing he has done throughout his career. He has fought the system and it's powers and WON in the name of what's right.

    He could force congress to address the issues the public cares about and let them answer to their own constituents as to why they decided not to support them and face not being re-elected. That's the way our democracy is supposed to work. Congress answers the people's demands and represents the people who voted them in. Is this what is happening now? Not even close.     Say Nader wins with 35% of the vote (McCain has 34% and the Democrat has 31%). 35% is not the will of the majority of the nation PLUS the Dems and Republicans in Congress know that 35% didnt vote for their party anyway so I dont believe they would yield to Nader's ideas (or any other third party President). That is why I think change has to start in Congress with a viable third party to get anything done. A mere 5% representation in Congress by a third party (because the numbers are so close between the two parties) would force the other two parties to form a coalition with it to enact some of the small party's ideas if they want their own ideas brought into law. This occurs in many European parliaments and is the best way for a small party to gain power and enact progressive agendas.
