    I needed some kind of quick off-the-cuff comeback. You're not gonna show me up, lawyer. Also, I take back any comments that may have come across as derogatory. I may need you to defend me in the states if any of my electrical designs go awry and a paper machine comes to life and and goes on a killing spree in the states (I have my friend if it happens here). And I since this is a such a tight-knit community, I know that I would definately be able to retain your services, pro-bono. Thank you in advance.

    Having said that, I'm not in favour of any race based groups anywhere, wether they're predominantly white, latino, black or asian, coz it just promotes division. There should never be a club that no one can join because of they're skin colour or race or heritage, but this rarely is true in the real world.
    If Pearl Jam was a beer, they'd probably be the best beer in the world!!

    An african American History club, first of all, does not promote division. It promotes an understanding of Black culture and an understanding and celebration of Black American history and accomplishment that is strangely missing from the standard, mainstream curriculuum. Nothing about division.
    Furthermore, membership is never restricted to African Americans. Whitey is perfectly welcome to join if he wants to. He just doesn't.

    miller8966, I agree with you 110%. It is bullshit that people are going to call a 15 year old girl racist for wanting to be proud of her culture and look farther into it with others. How can people say that groups such as the NAACP and other ethnic oriented groups aren't promoting their own heritage and race? They clearly do because they are proud of their race. People should stop being so close minded and forget about past prejudices that this country had. I support this young woman for starting this group. She is proud and should be.

    See, things like that I'm perfectly for. A club that promotes understanding of any sort of culture but is not limited to the people it promotes is fantastic.

    I'd fully support her if the club was not mutually exclusive to white people and promotes the culture and heritage in a positive, non-racist way. I'm all for understanding other peoples culture and making the world a much smaller place.

    I don't think anyone is suggesting that a "European Heritage" club, started with the sincere purpose, and operating under the sincere circumstances of students using extra-curricular energies to study and learn about various european histories and cultures would be in and of itself a bad thing. The fear lies with the motives and projected membership of such a club. Especially, being as it is that such a club really IS a bit redundant given he standard school curriculuum and culture in which we live, i am a tad suspicious of these things. Even the suggested name of the club ("Caucasian Heritage"), as the man in the article suggested, sounds a bit suspect to me. How do i know this girl isn't just stamping her foot and in a whiny baby voice saying "well, gee, there's a Black club, we want one too, blah, blah"... and seeking to start up this club under the same insincere, ignorant, and racially prejudiced pretenses some in this thread are espousing? i also fear that if not immediately, shortly down the road this club would only attract, and become breeding grounds for hateful, supremicists. If this were to prove true, the club, once started would be alot harder to shut down.
