  • No kidding. Some people forget that not everyone is so obsessive about Pearl Jam that they go to every show within 100 miles.

Some people only have tickets to one show, and deserve to see some hits.

Also, with that said, The Grateful Dead were able to mix up their setlist more than anyone else for 2 reasons:

    1. They had ZERO hits. Every song was on an equal level.
    2. They suck and everyone was on drugs. So it didn't matter what they played.

    ya they suck......please
the grateful dead were, and continue to be (despite being gone for 13 years) the most successful touring live musical act in the history of music. not sure how you can suck, and hold that title

they suck and everyone was on drugs.....thats just ignorant.

dont cite their "sucking" as a reason for a new set with nearly zero repeats each night. its called the grateful dead have a HUGE CATALOG
you can have your opinion but dont throw out stupid comments like you did above.

and I'll take ten billion Do the Evolutions thank you very much.
that and GTF never get old. in fact, i would be highly disappointed NOT hearing DTE at a show.

I was always under the impression that the Grateful Dead comparisons came more from the nature of our fan base than from the music/setlists. And I'd throw in the bootleg policy/bootleg releases into the mix as to part of the reasons for the comparisons.

No disrespect meant to Pearl Jam, my all time favorite band, bar none.

When it comes to touring bands, The Dead are, and will continue to be forever the gold standard. It isn't even close, they invented it!

Couple of points that pretty much sum it up to me:

    1) 11 repeats in a 30 song setlist is not horrible at all. They rehearse a certain number of songs, and I don't really see an issue. The only song I had an issue with hearing repeated was No More, simply because he could have gotten the same point across with a song like Gimmie Some Truth or Here's to the State.

    2) The MSG shows were a tough ticket, and add in the fact that the fan club tickets were limited (I don't think there were as many availabel this year) and the incresae in ticket prices, I think a lot of fan clubbers were only able to hit up one show.

They tried to please the masses by playing a rare song like All Night on both nights.

I don't feel so bad now that I didn't go to both shows.
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

It's actually only 9 repeats since Evenflow and Corduroy are played at every show.

people who are complaining about 11 repeated songs at MSG need to stop going to multiple shows.

    Yay for him! :)
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.
  • Did you ever stop to think that maybe the original poster just doesn't like the song, regardless of the message?

This is a long shot but did anybody think that maybe they were filming the shows for some sort of release and wanted to do those songs over? Maybe they didn't like how they came out Night1 so they re-did them? Just a thought.

people have to realize that for even a band as great as Pearl Jam, there's only so many songs you can rehearse and remember for a tour. I think there's more than enough variety with the setlists. with the exception of having to see No More War four times in a row, I enjoyed everything that was repeated.

Well said. I fucking love this band and seeing them live is like a religious experience. I couldn't give a fuck if they repeated every song 3 nights in a row. I would still sing my heart out and soak up every minute of it. Stop fucking complaining and take the experience for what it is.
