Anyone who believes she should of "let him rape her" should be beaten without mercy instantly.
that was the subject matter; but people stressed the need for people to let the police handle crime.0 -

anyone that believes the lady should have just lay there and allowed that person to rape her is fucking retarded. what is fucking wrong with this world that people can believe that.
there was a couple threads last week. and i don't believe she should've let him rape her love. i'm wondering if that's what the neighbours thought. AND; if those who last week said the police should handle all crime would flip flop.0 -

Yes... let the police handle crime. In this case, the crime was in progress.

It would be vigilante if Pittaras had been raped and the guy went home and Pittaras had gotten a gun, went over to his house and shot him. Huge difference.

In burglaries, not rapes and attacks with knives!

Nope. sorry. You cannot pick what YOU wish to debate. Either you take on the entire issue or let it be.
In this specific case (the Pittaras case), she was under attack and has the complete right to use deadly force because she did not know whether or not she would be killed by her attacker. She made the right decision because there is a good probable outcome resulting in the end of her life.
In the Horn case... he went out looking for a fight. He had the police dispatcher on the phone as it was happening. his life was NOT in danger until he made the decision to step outside and into the situation... a situation that Horn could have clearly avoided. Pittaras was not given the choice... she did not place herself in danger.

if you get an answer to that, i'll eat crow. i get the feeling his entire knowledge of criminal law comes from guns'n'ammo magazine. speaking of, i've got a new issue and a bottle of lube waiting so i'm gonna go home and jerk off to that fine periodical.0 -

Well if it happened here in Oz, he'd not have got shot most likely and then we'd have a situation where she most likely would have been raped and/or killed and then there'd be a whole bunch of rubbish about how she probably asked for it. But then there probably would have been a huge outcry about the state of the mental health services here, which are pathetic at best.NOPE!!!

You forgot the ninemsn poll question that asks you "do you think our mental health services are adequate yes/no"0 -
Was there any threat to Horn? No.
There was an immideate threat to this woman, and although I HATE guns, it was within her right to act in self defence.Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. I can't imagine me ever participating in a poll on ninemsn. I wouldn't have even have known it existed if you hadn't mentioned it.
But I can answer that question. NO. They're not even close to adequate and haven't been for a very, very long time, if ever.NOPE!!!

Because I've got a hotmail account after I sign out it redirects me to ninemsn and thats where I see the lame poll question.. I like to see the results.. I remember one question asked "do you support the ban on African immigration" and surprisingly there was about 20% Yes answers at the time I saw it0 -

Yeah, me too but I shut that sucker down as soon as the box pops up!
Reckon they'd be about as useful as polls from ACA or 2day2nite.
I can see why there'd be that kind of percentage response to that question on ninemsn. It's the demographic that are voting. I'm sure it would be much lower if they had a more unbiased demographic responding. I bet they asked the week after all the dramas we've had down here too. :rolleyes:NOPE!!!

No... I'm serious and sincere.
I'm curious to know because if he was a trial lawyer that actually litigated cases in open court... I hope for the sake of his clients he did not employ some of the logic he displays in here. If I'm in the Jury Box and he's arguing the case... 10 times out of 10... his guy is going down.
And if he was a lawyer who argued cases... based upon some of the arguements he makes here... well, to me... it's no wonder he no longer practices law.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Doesn't it blow anybody else's mind that she had a loaded handgun on (or in) her nightstand? Who does that? I guess it worked out for her but that's fucking crazy. the man had a brain tumor which caused his erratic behavior. i posted this because the neighbours are divided. half believed she should've just let him rape her; while the others believe she did the right thing.
had she allowed him to rape her; the criminal justice system would have either delt the appropriate punishment or found the tumor saying he was mentally incompitent.
i didn't ask the question; the neighbours did. i'm just trying to get some feedback here.
oh yes im sure the neighbours would have allowed someone to rape them before defending themselves. the man held a knife to her throat. how the fuck was she to know he only wanted to rape her. it was self defense. even i would have shot him.
come on OLS, you know this situation is not comparable to the discussion last week. self defense is not vigilante justice.

With a knife to her throat I think she should be commended on being cool enough to accomplish survival in forethought and in action.
It's unfortunate that it comes to that sometimes, but in this case the good one got out alive.

I read that thread. I think that guy was within rights to do what he did. To be in a neighborhood watch group is to be vigilent to those in your neighborhood as your own.
Now, on the other hand, could he not have videotaped or taken pictures of
what he was witnessing? Maybe, maybe not.
