But I love my family, I love my friends and I even love random strangers.
If I can help someone out I will. Sometimes I've done it and wondered what on earth possessed me to put myself in that kind of situation but I've done it. Stupid but a split second decision. Luckily for me I've mostly managed to get in and out of a situation without too much trouble, depending on how you judge the outcome. And that's the problem I see here. If I'm not in the situation who the hell am I to judge what someone else did? I'm not them. I can look at the outcome and go yeah, well that probably wasn't a very good thing, but I'm not there or them. It's easy to judge shit after the event.
But if you're handing out cabbage patch kids, can I have one? Please?? Can I? I had a deprived childhood!
According to the report that leads this topic, the woman who killed to live was living in a high crime neighborhood.
According to what I've read of the instance of the man defending his neighbor's well-being, he gave a warning to the suspects to stop before firing upon the suspects.
I don't see either scenario as "great places to live" at those moments, however, I stand by the rights of those citizens who made a stand with the use of the available tools of defense in that moment.

I ended up unloading the thing about 3 months later, after owning it for about 2 years. I had thought about all of the things I had heard and learned about, if you are going to pull a gun on someone, you'd better be willing and able to pull the trigger. I seriously thought about the consequences of that would be and felt it wasn't worth it.
Before that, I used to go shooting at the Long Beach Police Academy (that used to give free gun safety and shooting classes) and always considered the targets as just targets. I wasn't until Lennon was shot that I saw the black outlines as a person.
The only reason I got the thing was because that was when car jacking was first coming into play. I later figured that it's only a car and cars are insured. If someone wants my car that badly... to pull a fucking gun on me... they can have it.
Am I afraid of guns today? No. We still go shooting from time to time, but I don't own one. I don't want one.
I don't know what else I can tell you... I'm just telling you what I had and what I did.
