    I don't have the stats to back this up but I would pretty safely venture to guess that the health risks of smoking while being on the birth control pull vastly outweighs the health risks of having an abortion, but I don't see the public debate or need of public debate over it. Somehow we trust doctors when they presecribe birth control to go over the associated health risks but we seemingly don't with abortion.

    The main thing for me would be the fact that abortion is a surgical procedure, and undergoing any surgical procedure carries a certain amount of risk to the patient, whether it's an abortion or a gall bladder removal.

    i'm not sure where you're going with this. how is the public stepping into a private matter between a woman and her physician?

    uh yeah birth control pills have risks. i never said otherwise. that's what the doctor is there for, to evaluate the medical situation. i also never said that citizens should evaluate whether or not a woman should have an abortion. you seem to be under that impression. you stated you don't get the attitude of decreasing abortions. i simply stated that some people care about the women, and since it is a surgery with risks, that could explain why some people would rather see pregnancies prevented. i did forget to mention that abortion (surgical) is an invasive procedure. those people who care about the women in this situation would rather see them not have to go through that. and i bet many women would rather themselves not have to go through that. also, it's not just the surgery itself. there are so many restrictions in states that make it really hard for some women to actually get an abortion--and the cost too! especially if you go out-of-state, if there are waiting periods, it is amazingly expensive. so i think many women would rather have good preventative methods over a surgical procedure with lots of red tape that they can't afford.

    btw, when you're compiling your stats, don't forget to factor in the anesthesia risks and that doctors don't prescribe pills to smokers over 35.

    i suppose you'd be satisfied with comprehensive sex education and unrestricted access to all legal contraception options for all women in the united states.

    and it gets better. i believe men (and women) should have better, safer, more convenient forms of birth control to have unrestricted access to! this is on top of unrestricted access to abortion too! holy shit!

A woman has the right to be stupid get knocked up and kill her unborn child. Its between her and god, its her pain to live with, its her karma that will stalk the rest of her life.     i'm really hesitant to ask this. i realize ultimately you think the woman should decide, but what about life that's created responsibly? many pregnancies occur with contraceptive use. i guess i just wonder if the condemnation would be less.
