  • My vote goes to Bruce Springsteens' Born to Run.

I don't know who you are, but try to stay out of New Jersey. We don't want you if you are going to have that kind of attitude.

I think I gotta change my vote from Rock the Casbah to Stairway to Heaven. That song is so goddamn boring but people think it's genius because it "slowly builds." Wow... it has a crescendo. Genius.

And on another note... I don't see how anyone could call Born to Run overrated. It's a meticulous, complex piece of music (for mainstream rock at least), so you can't argue that it's so simple that anyone could write it. And its lyrics are brilliant and resonate deeply in all of us (assuming you're human, which I'm guessing the OP isn't).

"I wanna know if love is wild, babe, I wanna know if love is real..."

Goddamn that's such a good song. I know we all have our opinions, but I think this is the exception... the OP is just plain wrong. :D Even if you don't like it, you can't argue it's overrated...

London Calling by the Clash is another one. Take that song at face value and it's really not that good.

I'm a Clash fan but I would have to agree. I think it was the music that made it distinct. But I love that album.

    My votes are

"Old Time Rock & Roll" by Bob Seger and

"Rock & Roll" by Led Zeppelin

Whenever I hear a band covering those songs and when I see people getting happy and running to the dance floor, I just want to vomit all over the place.
  • My vote goes to Bruce Springsteens' Born to Run.

I'm shocked and stunned! That song is the biggest, most uplifting anthem ever recorded!
  • Imagine by John Lennon, easily.

Agreed. One of the most mediocre songs on a frighteningly mediocre record.

The only good part is the "London is drowning and I, I live by the river" bit. That a truly great song like Train In Vain wasn't even listed on the back of the original album and London Calling gets to be the title track is mindblowing to me :D
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
  • My first thought was Smells Like Teen Spirit. it's a piece of crap.

how can people say this??? it changed music. an overrated song is that crap on the radio today, where the artist is popular for 2 months with some crappy song (i.e. that i kissed a girl song) and in 3 months, that song will never be heard of again

teen spirit is one of the greatest songs ever, because it was the leader in a whole new wave of music, which PJ was a part of
