I'd be interested to know how many people here still listen to the bands they loved DURING the nineties. I turned 13 in '95, so I didn't really start listening to modern rock music until about that time. Most of the bands I love today existed during that decade, but I disliked or had never heard of them at the time.
My favorites around about 1995-1999 were:
Pearl Jam
Soundgarden
Alice in Chains
Bush
Gin Blossoms
Collective Soul
Our Lady Peace
Oasis
Tori Amos
Blur
Only Pearl Jam and Tori would make my top ten today, but I can at least stomach everything else on the list.
Okay, maybe not Collective Soul. Ouch.0 -
Pavement
Elliott Smith/Heatmiser
Pearl Jam
Fugazi
Built to Spill
Radiohead
Nirvana
Weezer
RATM
Belle & Sebastian
Godspeed You! Black Emperor

COUNTING CROWS?!?!? are you serious? that band (along with the likes of Matchbox 20 and Third eye blind) represent everything that sucked about 90's "rock." as much as I'd like to jump on the bandwagon and diss pjoasisrules for his man love of the Gallagher brothers, it's hard to do that when you argue with him but then say that we're all idiots because we don't like counting crows. HAHAHA.
