  • Oasis made one very, very great album. Otherwise they have contributed nothing to music, and the Gallagher brothers are douches.

I'd be interested to know how many people here still listen to the bands they loved DURING the nineties. I turned 13 in '95, so I didn't really start listening to modern rock music until about that time. Most of the bands I love today existed during that decade, but I disliked or had never heard of them at the time.

My favorites around about 1995-1999 were:

    Pearl Jam
    Soundgarden
    Alice in Chains
    Bush
    Gin Blossoms
    Collective Soul
    Our Lady Peace
    Oasis
    Tori Amos
    Blur

Only Pearl Jam and Tori would make my top ten today, but I can at least stomach everything else on the list.

Okay, maybe not Collective Soul. Ouch.

COUNTING CROWS?!?!? are you serious? that band (along with the likes of Matchbox 20 and Third eye blind) represent everything that sucked about 90's "rock." as much as I'd like to jump on the bandwagon and diss pjoasisrules for his man love of the Gallagher brothers, it's hard to do that when you argue with him but then say that we're all idiots because we don't like counting crows. HAHAHA. COUNTING CROWS! my god in heaven.

in no order with exception of top 3

    1. Pearl Jam
    2. My Morning Jacket (not really a 90's band but first album out in '99, had to put them on the list)
    3. Radiohead
    4. Red Hot Chili Peppers
    5. Nirvana
    6. Oasis
    7. Flaming Lips
    8. Wilco
    9. Smashing Pumpkins
    10. Blind Melon
    11. The Cranberries
    12. Foo Fighters

not a fan of the band so i left them off the list but i had to comment that Throwing Copper by Live almost put them on my list if it weren't for that fact that nothing else they've done was that great. That album was definitely a 90's classic though.

  • I'm not really sure why there's bashing going on of the Counting Crows. Live they put on a great show, and the group are a bunch of really talented musicians. They're not even in the same category as a third eye blind as someone mentioned on here- not even in the same league. Counting Crows have a WEALTH of talent.
