I paid $28 (lawn seats) at an amphitheater and around $30 to $40 in the past for intimate club shows. Seems pretty reasonable to me for a band that puts on as good a show as they do. Arent PJ tix for this tour in the $50 range?Brian0 -
^^^ Lawn seats for this summer's Black Crowes, Robert Randolph, Drive-By Truckers concert were only $18. But alas, that show was cancelled and I was only refunded for the ticket price (and not the additional fees, which were almost as much). That definitely left a sour taste in my mouth.
$43 is a bit out of my price range (even for the Black Crowes in an "intimate" setting); there is only one band I would pay more than $40 to see, and I'll let you guess who that is.It'll be interesting to see how many people do shell out $50 (including misc. fees) for this one, and what % of the 1,700-seat auditorium is filled. The Darien Lake show (along with three others) was cancelled due to poor ticket sales, even though the band attributed it to "technical issues."
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my brother, who attends the university at which the concert will be held, can secure free (or reduced-price) tix.0 -
the crowes are one of the best live acts out there right now. as mentioned before, they change the setlists every night. a wide variety of originals and covers. lead guitarist, Marc Ford fucking smokes. very underrated. the band is as tight as ever. i've been a fan since the very beginning, probably attended about 30 shows, and i've never seen em better than they are right now.
the "LOST CROWES" comes out 9/26. two previously unreleased albums that are truly outstanding. in addition, a dvd, "WHO KILLED THAT BIRD ON YOUR WINDOW SILL" will be released. BUY THESE DISCS !!!!!
THE BLACK CROWES: THE MOST ROCK AND ROLL, ROCK AND ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD !!!

Sure they ripped off the Rolling Stones, but they're a 100 times better, so who cares?
And... think of how many artists the Stones ripped off!!0 -

It's a mid week show, so it will disrupt my sleep schedule (yes, I'm a creature of habit). My hubby won't go with me, he's not too much into the concert scene - even PJ! I can round up a few friends but I'm still uncertain....
Do I or don't I? Not too many good bands come to the 'Cuse. I do enjoy the Black Crowes, they put on a kick ass show and the music is great IMO.
I think Blues Travelers should bring back H.O.R.D.E! What fun!
I think H.O.R.D.E festival should come back too!!!
As for the Black Crowes I just saw them a month ago and back in May and I really had a good time! They are still great live and do a good mix of covers too! I say go the seats are pretty cheap and it'll be a great show!
edit - here is a link to my pic's from their last gig at Pine Knob outside of Detroit

I think I saw them about 10 years ago. That was in Paradiso Amsterdam. Great show and atmosphere. The bass player almost finished a hole botlle of "Jack Daniels" and lots of coke. Still don't understand how he made till the end of the show.2006 Arnhem, Netherlands
2007 Dusseldorf, Germany - Copenhagen, Denmark - Nijmegen, Netherlands
2009 Rotterdam, Netherlands
2010 Nijmegen, Netherlands - Berlin, Germany
2011 East Troy 1 & 2, Wisconsin
2012 Amsterdam 2, Netherlands
2014 Amsterdam 1, Netherlands - Berlin, Germany0 -
I saw them a couple years back at the Tabernacle here in Atlanta, it was amazing."So, you must really love Led Zeppelin. That’s the oldest shirt I’ve ever seen on someone who wasn’t a bum."
"Hey, if God didn’t want me to wear it so much, he wouldn’t have made them rock so hard."0 -
Always a great show. Four or five times seen them over the years. One of my favorite all time shows was them with Jimmy Page at Milwaukee Summerfest.0
-
Absolutely - go see them live! I saw them three times in the last year and they did not dissapoint. They are on fire right now! And I also vote for briniging back the HORDE festival!0

Well now it looks like Marc quit the band-
To the fans:
Yesterday, The Black Crowes were notified by Marc Ford’s attorney that Marc was quitting The Black Crowes and that it was effective immediately.
The last show of The Black Crowes summer tour was on August 12, 2006.
The band has since been on a three week break.
On September 5, two days before the start of the fall tour which begins on
September 7, The Black Crowes attorney received a fax from Marc Ford’s attorney immediately terminating his agreement with The Black Crowes.
The contract between The Black Crowes and Marc Ford stipulates that Marc must provide twelve (12) weeks notice if he wishes to terminate the agreement.
I am not going to comment on the timing of this notification or the way Marc has elected to handle his personal and business affairs with The Black Crowes, however I will state as a matter of fact, that this is not the first time that Marc Ford has breached his agreement with The Black Crowes.
Paul Stacey will be performing with The Black Crowes during the upcoming fall tour and Chris and Rich are currently in discussions with other guitarists.

Well, that blows. I love Marc's playing. The Crowes just aren't the same without him.0

I am pizzed!0 -
That sucks, but this band has been a revolving door over the years. Didnt the keyboardist just leave as well? Its a shame. Even Kate Hudson is leaving them.Brian0

i'm seeing them this sunday in raleigh. they're opening for tom petty. should be a pretty kick ass show. hopefully it'll be worth the $40 i had to pay for lawn tickets.0
-
Wow, that sucks. The band is great, although they have some definite internal issues. Their keyboardist left, or was asked to leave, becase of "personal issues", a couple of weeks ago. It's not looking good. And we hope to have a new album from them, guess that's all up in the air as well. Damn.0

They are back in Raleigh again? Holy shit, I just saw them there in July. Too bad it's $40 for the lawn, but that will be a great show. They are fantastic live and you get Petty also.Brian0 -

I think they axed the keyboardist. I read somewhere that Marc Ford quit because the touring was threatening his sobriety that he had worked so hard to acquire.0 -
