Absolutely - go see them live! I saw them three times in the last year and they did not dissapoint. They are on fire right now! And I also vote for briniging back the HORDE festival!
Yesterday, The Black Crowes were notified by Marc Ford’s attorney that Marc was quitting The Black Crowes and that it was effective immediately.
The last show of The Black Crowes summer tour was on August 12, 2006.
The band has since been on a three week break.
On September 5, two days before the start of the fall tour which begins on
September 7, The Black Crowes attorney received a fax from Marc Ford’s attorney immediately terminating his agreement with The Black Crowes.
The contract between The Black Crowes and Marc Ford stipulates that Marc must provide twelve (12) weeks notice if he wishes to terminate the agreement.
I am not going to comment on the timing of this notification or the way Marc has elected to handle his personal and business affairs with The Black Crowes, however I will state as a matter of fact, that this is not the first time that Marc Ford has breached his agreement with The Black Crowes.
Paul Stacey will be performing with The Black Crowes during the upcoming fall tour and Chris and Rich are currently in discussions with other guitarists.

That sucks, but this band has been a revolving door over the years. Didnt the keyboardist just leave as well? Its a shame. Even Kate Hudson is leaving them.
i'm seeing them this sunday in raleigh. they're opening for tom petty. should be a pretty kick ass show. hopefully it'll be worth the $40 i had to pay for lawn tickets.
Wow, that sucks. The band is great, although they have some definite internal issues. Their keyboardist left, or was asked to leave, becase of "personal issues", a couple of weeks ago. It's not looking good. And we hope to have a new album from them, guess that's all up in the air as well. Damn.

They are back in Raleigh again? Holy shit, I just saw them there in July. Too bad it's $40 for the lawn, but that will be a great show. They are fantastic live and you get Petty also.

I think they axed the keyboardist. I read somewhere that Marc Ford quit because the touring was threatening his sobriety that he had worked so hard to acquire.

i wanted to go in july, but i couldn't get anyone to go with me. i heard the show kinda sucked though. didn't they play mostly b-sides and songs nobody knew or something?
they also usually have a booth set up at their shows so you can buy the concert you are seeing and it is ready about 20-30 minutes after the show has ended.

You can download the shows now with the same app. that PJ uses. There is a link around in one of these threads about Basecamp. The prices were $5 more for the 2 file formats than PJ charged. The quality was good.

I thought it was a really good show, but if you are looking for "the hits" then you won't get it. The only songs from the set that I have ever heard on the radio were "Twice as Hard" and "By Your Side". It didn't bother me too much because Im familiar with all their albums and know the other songs they (of theirs) played which were all album tracks . Sure I would have liked to have heard a couple more of those songs that made them famous because they are some amazing songs and I would have rather they skipped the 3 cover songs (out of 14) and played more of their own stuff, but other than that it was really good. My only fear with the direction they seem to be going is that they may alienate the casual fan.
That said, they are a hell of a band and no matter what songs they play, they are a treat to see live. Kinda wish I had known they would be back with Petty because I would have waited to see them then.
I saw them on July 14th and they played Remedy, Jealous Again, Hard To Handle, and Thorn In My Pride. They also played a lot of songs I didn't recognize, but they were all good. I agree with the person who said the setlist doesn't matter because they play their asses off on every song. I will say that Marc Ford's lead guitar work was a major factor in my enjoyment of the show, so without him, I don't know if it will be as good.
The band needs to take some time off and recover. Losing Marc and Ed is a huge loss to the band and to its fan. They have been touring non stop since early 05. I wonder if that played a role in both Marc and Ed leaving.
Just saw the Black Crowes last night for a free show in Richmond right by my house which was great. They were awesome. I was really impressed but man did they get out of their quick. To the crowd's dissappointment there was no encore, we were screaming for it, but they got on the bus and took off literally about 1 minute when they got off the stage. I'm guessing it was due to the weird curfew Richmond has for outdoor concerts. Still they were great.
I'm getting psyched. The show is Wednesday the 13th. Got kickin' seats, Floor, Row J so I'll be able to see - the floor is on a slant! Yea! Sometimes being a chick standing a whopping 5'3 sucks (I.E. seeing Pearl Jam at the Borgata Night 1 - Damn you the 6'6 dude in front of me! LOL)
A few years ago I got a really awesome acoustic version of Jealous Again but lost it when my computer crashed. Sure wish I could remember where it came from!

Paul Stacey has replaced Marc Ford on guitar for now, he was in New Earth Mud, Chris' side band. Paul is a pretty good guitarist from what I saw of him with NEM.
Heres last nights setlist, first headlining solo gig without Marc and Ed, looks good and the reviews from fans was very positive.

"Takes One to Know One" - I got to hear that one the first time they played it. Sounded pretty cool. I see they have been debuting a few songs durring the tour. Would be nice to see them take a break and get in the studio and put some stuff down for a new album. I know they have some never before released stuff coming out, but its old b-sides and stuff right? I miss the days when they put out albums. How long has it been now?
Supposedly 2007 will be the year of new Crowes material atleast that is what they are claiming.
NEW STUDIO ALBUM—THEIR FIRST IN SIX YEARS—IS ON TAP FOR 2007
Management for THE BLACK CROWES has confirmed that CHRIS and RICH ROBINSON have been in the studio in New York and Los Angeles working on material for a new album.
Pete Angelus, the band’s longtime manager, reveals that the album is expected to be released sometime in 2007. It would mark THE BLACK CROWES’ first album of new studio material in six years.
"From the inception of their reunion,” says Angelus, “Chris and Rich have written a substantial amount of material which they have been sorting through recently with friend and producer Paul Stacey. We expect to continue recording at the conclusion of the fall tour and are planning for a 2007 release."
Angelus said that it remains undecided whether or not the record will be released through a major label or if they will choose to release the record independently.
I'm so mad I didn't see them. They are a fantastic rock and roll band!
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

I'm getting really psyched for Wednesday's show here in Syracuse. The Landmark is a great venue. PJ played here years and years ago, I wasn't fortunate enough to see it. I got great seats, Row 7, but there isn't a bad seat in the house
If I have a great time, which I'm sure I will, I'm going to try and catch them in November in Rochester!
