Hearing this shit has been bad enough. I hadn't even thought about the videos that may accompany it.
I just thought he had lost respect from fans. Now its clear he's lost all self-respect as well.I am lost, I'm no guide. But I'm by your side...

The nicest thing I can say about that video is that the picture quality is quite good. I don't even want to contemplate the nastiest thing I can say about it. I think I'd almost have preferred it if he jumped out of his chair and started dancing with everyone else, just so he wouldn't look like such a tool. Did nobody with a working set of eyes watch that before it was released?Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.0

Jesus Christ. The Part of Me video is probably one of the worst videos I've ever seen. And not just cause I hate the new Cornell shit, it was really just a horrible video. Whatever shred of credibility Cornell may have had left just went out the fuckin' door.0

And you're right, this is a hideously embarrassing mid-life crisis. When is he going to realise that this whole Scream project is one big fat turkey?! It doesn't matter how many videos he makes, or how many shows or adverts he manages to get his music in to, nobody's biting.
This whole thing is totally the result of his ego heading out of control. Compare him with Mark Lanegan - now there's a guy who likes to experiment, and pretty much everything he touches is golden. Critics love him, he has a hardcore fan base who embrace everything he does, and even if they don't like a particular project, people don't trash him because they know he's just trying new things. The difference with Cornell is that his version of 'trying something new', is to find the most mainstream producer he can and produce an album that's so tragically safe that it has come off as completely desperate. Then you add to that all the verizon adverts and fashion shows, and it's hardly surprising that his previously hardcore fan base are suddenly turning on him.
This new video is just......wow.....this guy used to be so fucking cool, and to see him looking so awkward in his own video is quite sad.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I often think (and post) comparisons to Lanegan and what could have been if Chris didn't lose his fucking mind, or been abducted and probed in the anus, or married his new wife, or whatever reason you want to call it. Whatever the reason may be, the result (a trainwreck) is one of the biggest downfalls of a musical legend (to me) that I've ever seen.0 -

Cornell is suffering from whatever happened to Maroon 5. Brutal. I guess he wanted to unleash his inner Justin Timberlake.one foot in the door

I cant stop laughing at that. You know the way you read something and instantly laugh, get over it , but then at random times later you burst out laughing again....thats happening to me now.

OR this could have happened.
CC and the devil (disguised as Mark Lanegan) had been playing cards. The devil said 'if you lose, what can you give me for a payment?'
CC replied. 'I can give you money'.
Devil: I require something more personal to you.
CC: OK, I have a nice car and a nice house.
They played cards. CC had a full house - 3 kings and 2 aces. Knowing he's on a winning streak, he said 'I can give you my talent'.
The devil smiled: 'Done'.
Before CC the Devil lay his cards. It was a running flash.
Now we know where CC's talent has gone.Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun - W.H. Auden0 -

Agreed 100%. A lot of the Cornell fanbase are commending him for trying new things and experimenting, and Cornell himself has been saying that he doesn't want to be stuck in a corner (although, especially with Audioslave, he's never struck me as an 'experimental' artist at all). But I think Jeff Ammnet said that instead of actively (and therefore maybe artifically) searching for a new sound, they gradually came into it through sucsessive records. Cornell's 'new sound' just smacks of getting a popular producer to cast the Top 40 magic over his songs.
I wish people would stop saying this project is groundbreaking becuase it clearly isn't.0 -

Are you sure it wasn't Mark Lanegan disguised as the Devil?
Or, maybe Mark Lanegan is the Devil...“Life is life everywhere. Life is in ourselves and not outside us. There will be men beside me, and the important thing is to be a man among men and to remain a man always, whatever the misfortunes, not to despair and not to fall - that is the aim of life, that is its purpose.”

It pains me to say it cuz there aren't many bigger Cornell fans than me but his latest album is absolutely horrible and he deserves all the shit he's taking on this forum. To use a sports analogy, it would be like Peyton Manning all of the sudden wanting to play wide receiver. Chris stick to the rock dude, you're techno phase sucks the big one.one foot in the door
