For those who haven't seen this, this is a new song. Fucking awesome.

Thanks for the video. I hadn't seen it before. I can't wait for the new album. Hoping they hit Toronto on their tour.

Should be fun...I thought Aha Shake was a little bit of a letdown..first album was fuckin amazing. I have high hopes for the new one.

Just wondering, how many times have you listened to Aha Shake? It took me a good 5-10 times before thinking 'holy crap that's good sh*t!'. Since it was the first record I really listened to from them, the first one seemed like a little less. There was so much hype back then that I would nearly vomit every time I heard their name. Not to mention Molly's Chambers video was playing ALL THE TIME on campus. The EP is amazing, too. I still have yet to hear any sensible reason for what they did to California Waiting. The version on Youth is terrible compared to the original. Just sounded like they were trying to 'fit in'.

I bought it pretty close to when it released, so I've listened to it many times..Don't get me wrong, there are some really good tracks on it..Pistol of Fire is great...but I just like the first album a lot better. Aha Shake has its moments too, but some parts are a little dull in my opinion.

Agreed, there are a few random 'dull' moments. I love the dynamics that Aha Shake presents to its listener though. I figure it might be kinda like what those couple years of starting out as basically rock gods were like - some great 'highs' and some real low 'lows'. Their first one however was much more straight ahead and seemed to carry a similar mood the whole time. Also something that bugs me about Youth is the production/sound of it. If I'm riding in my car, it seriously hurts my ears to listen to it. Yeah I know...

I've heard good things about them, but have only heard a handful of their songs. I want to buy one of their albums, so which album should I start with first? Thanks.

I agree. Also the Holy Roller Novocaine EP that was released right before it is excellent, but some of the songs on it are on Youth as well. I'd check out both before Aha Shake, but make sure not to leave Holy Roller out of the mix.

"Youth..." is my fav of the two.

In the meantime, listen to "On Call":

Caleb really flexes his vocals on this tune. Sounding like a rocker is easy; sounding like a soulful, sexy one is not. He nailed it.

New single is up on their myspace.
  • What do you guys think of the song? Me, I think it is lacking a little. It doesn't worry me about the record at all, it's just missing a little punch.

I like the song a LOT! The hollow effects, the vocal delivery...it's a nice and very "adult" departure from their usual punchy, almost violent southern rock but it's still all their sound.

I think the gents are musically growing up nicely ("Arizona" is just dead lovely).

The thing I love about KOL, is they are distinct..in an era where a lot of bands sound like eachother, these guys sound pretty original..and dude has great character in his singing.
  • i love the new single. it's the first time i heard a KOL song and immediately took to it. can't wait to hear the rest of the album.
  • This song is growing a little on me. I like 'Black Thumbnail' alot better. I still think this cd is gonna be huge.

I liked black thumbnail a lot better as well. That's not to say that On Call is amazing itself.

I heard it a few times, but lost the mp3. It was a cool song, don't remember too much of it.
