Thanks Volition!!! Just made my night again.... love this new track.
Hopefully this Fixer will set the tone for the rest of it... can't wait!
Keep on RITFW
that was an amazing new song!! anyone manage to capture it, ie. MP3??? Please post!!!
looks like PJ's gonna kick more ass on this new record! can't wait...
conan mentioned the name of the album,.. wtf was it? starts with a "B"??
cheers Jammers;
seriously??
it sounded like they were playing really fast and couldnt hear each other. ed looked like he was just trying to keep up and not forget the words. probably the worst vocal live ever heard him do. he looked heavier and maybe his wind wasnt there. just kinda screamed his way through. i think they bit off more than they could chew trying to rush a new song out there to get the conan publicity, when the album isnt even coming out til the end of september. kinda bummed after being so pumped for a few weeks now.
i know its a fan forum here, but c'mon, we dont have to be apologists. so as much as i love pj, tonight was crap.
i have faith it'll be ironed out for the 2 shows in chicago im going to see. still REALLY excited for the new album. all in all, between the bad Target press, and the conan disaster, my buzz is a little killed for now.
take a breath, get it together boys, and make it right for the United Center.
great first post...
now beat it.
yeah, we're apologists cuz we have a differing opinion of this trol. yes, that's right. you only get one "l.'
It definately sounds like KOL to me, or any other modern new rock band. Put someone elses vocals on it and you wouldnt be able to tell its PJ. Im sort of disapointed. On the plus side, the leaked showbox song was MUCH better.
Maybe it was the rolling stone article that put it in my head.
What KoL song does it sound like?
none, it sounds like a song that pearl jam woudlnt write is what im getting at......
Well, it is different from their normal sound. It has an upbeat and buoyant sound, which I haven't heard from the band before. After hearing this song, and the poor recording from the Showbox, it feels like the band is shedding some of the brooding/serious quality that most of their earlier songs carry.
who knows, are you sure they were talking about the song you heard tonight?
Probably. Rolling Stone said they heard this one song that has a matt cameron groove with a stone riff that sounds like it could be on a KOL record. I know that the song apperenly sounds nothing like KOL, but it still sounds like a song that a similar band would write. The only thing im doubting is that it doesnt sound like a stone riff.
I honestly dont know what to think of it. it sounds too much like theyre trying to be something their not (aka KOL)
its honestly a good song, if it wasnt from PJ. I hope i change my mind.
There's no way you would think it sounded like KOL if it wasn't for that rolling stone feature...
Haha, i don't know....I never read that article and I thought the same thing too...I think the similarity is mostly in Mike and Jeff's tone.
Upon first listen, I wasn't too impressed, but hearing it again I liked it more. I think it was an off performance of the song, and, if possible, too over hyped. I'll be ok if some of or even the majority of the songs are like this, but not all. Which I doubt will happen, haha.
Ive been trying to work out what I thought it reminded me of....and you sir have just hit the nail on the head!!!!!!
The Real Me
Ding Ding Ding, I missed the earlier "Real Me" comparison when I made mine, so that makes 3 independent "The Real Me" comparisons. I think we have the influence down.

Yep and each time I watch I still think it. Just has the same punch to it that Real Me does.

ya man but for a lot of people experimenting is what you want the boys to do. i'm sure it will grow on you some and if it doesn't you will still get the opportunity w/ the studio version

I hope so, but there are still 12(rumored) songs we havent heard. So its not that bad. Plus I happened to really like the leaked showbox song for what you could hear.
i liked this one from the get-go. maybe it was our shitty speakers, but the guitars seemed really loud & i couldn't hear eddie very well. then i watched it online w/ headphones. yup. i'm liking this song quite a bit right now.
OMFG!!! I Am soooooo LOVING this new song!! I am gonna be watching it tonight on Cable over here (we are a day behind) But I have seen video and heard the MP3's already and i gotta say I am FUCKING LOVING This song!!
CANNOT Seriously wait for the new album to come out, it's gonna sound AWESOME!! More than AWESOME actually!! This excitement is THE BEST FEELING EVER!!!!
holy shit.. that was epic. caught me off guard. im still listening to it.
same here, my expectations were quite low, and it has blown me away! the best thing is it's different, it doesn't sound like pearl jam, but it sounds great, which is great
it's evolution baby!

Finally, a solid thread. I was getting tired of having to wade through BS threads about how "Ed looked fat," or "Ed can't sing," or "PJ is a sellout for partnering with Target." I'm just excited about the great new music we'll all be hearing soon! See you at the Chicago shows.
Why are people saying it sounded like KoL? Have you ever heard a KoL song? PJ are not southern rockers, and definately don't sound like the new KoL (the latest two albums wern't very good. the first two are amazing).
seriously...u cant compare Sex on Fire or Use Somebody to that song/The Fixer/whatever it's really called
i already wrote my review...its PJ Punk Rock and I Like It...sounds so much better than WWS and I hope Backspacer shits on Avocado
never compare PJ to KOL..PJ is PJ and they only sound like Pearl Jam
YB
What's with all the "Avocado" hate now? 3 years ago it was almost unanimous among the Jamily that it was one of their best albums. I still think it is!

I love it! Mike is crazy especially, but they all are. Great music for sure. Makes me very excited for the album.

Were we watching the same show? lol
It was ok I guess.
