And this does happen: fans themselves asking favors from venues for better seats that should have gone to a fan club. This goes unreported and fan club members complain that there were better seats given out. Those fans could be just friends or worse – fan club members.
I’m thinking from those venues’ point of view…it’s just a one time deal with a fan club wl while they have relationships with others on a regular basis. Or a fan club member thinking he/she has a one time opportunity to be close, at the expense of the fan club. This isn’t good and is unethical, but that does happen.
Ten Club does all it could do with a small group of people trying their best to have a working relationship with the venues, but it seems that with a large organization such as LiveNation where there are hundreds (perhaps even a thousand?) workers who could have obtained information and doing unethical practices that goes unreported or unknown – until it’s too late, that is.
You bring up some really good points here and unfortunately this is the way of the world these days. However, I do believe that 10C does very well with securing great seats for us. My husband's boss is a HUGE promoter in the Chicagoland area (has major contacts with both LiveNation and Jam) and I always consistently get better seats then him at PJ shows

Do you really think that between Monday night when the update was posted and Thursday morning when it was announced - this second show materialized?
The fact that the second Pearl Jam show is still NOT up on ticketmaster's site leads me to believe that its a possibility that at the time of the announcement Monday that the fan club at least didn't know.
Also all the radio ads in the Chicago area have/had said that the Sunday night show was Pearl Jam's ONLY show in the Midwest this year.
The only 10 club members who have a legitimate gripe (IMHO) are those of us in the South who held out on traveling to other shows in the 2006 tour, assuming there would be several shows coming up! This time I'm not taking that chance. See you in Chicago, and ACL (if that one counts).
I agree with those who say "big deal" to the late and sporadic announcements. If the band knew it was going to happen, there's no reason it wouldn't be announced.
Always been a fan of the 10c but this one-off tour announcement stuff is crap. You announce shows in Chicago and leave everyone hanging if there will be more on the east coast, then you confirm that this is it and they'll be something on west coast.
In your update, couldn't you have mentioned there was a possibility to add a Monday night in Chicago for the folks that made a decision to travel to Chicago and were making travel plans?
it's not like it would have impacted pre-sales for Sunday night.

I think maybe they started the whole selling tickets the second you announce it was to help out with the servers and the site to not go down. (my 2¢) Having an idea of where the location of the next concert in the tweets- would also help not load the site up.
But I think they are trying to do the best that they can. Everyone wants info, even if its not ready- and they are trying to accommodate those people.
As some have said, 10C is just passing the info along- they don't manage the band.

This is my main concern/query. I was sent notifications of the Vedder solo dates, European tour, and the additional Chicago show but received nothing about Toronto (and Chicago 1), which would have been my top choice on account of its nearby location.
Would there have been any reason for this unfortunate omission?

Now I just need to get a couple of friends to take the extra tix's.

It really bothers me that Ten Club didn't have the decency to send Boom and Jeff to my office to discuss all venues/prices/onsale dates. After being in ten club for 6 years, you think they can give me a little bit of respect.

This is false information, airline tickets are best priced up to two weeks from departure....booking four months in advance is a poor course of action, particularly when one books "non refundable".
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.
I don’t know if I’m off the topic here, but I’d like to share my perspective and opinion based on my experience and observations. I apologize for the lengthy post.
Like Vedd Hedd pointed out, the upcoming shows (EV & few PJ) are not regular shows like a full tour where everyone will know ahead of time and more time to purchase tickets before the public sales.
Now, based on my experience… things move very fast once the inside information is received within a venue and people/companies (e.g., friends, LiveNation, etc). You can thank the internet for that – it is a very powerful medium for information sharing.
I noticed things get “out of control” at the speed of light that I think in certain situations makes it quite difficult for Ten Club to control because a) people do not keep their end of bargains (agreeing to hold information and/or allocated seats) and b) fans themselves do not report directly to Ten Club about what is going on if they knew the information or were offered something that should have gone to the fan club.
I’ll give you one example: people who have relationships with the venues (whether it’s directly or indirectly such as a worker or a friend’s cousin who couldn’t keep his mouth shut) would obtain the information and share it with everyone – or worse, keep it to himself/herself for his/her own personal gain, rather than informing 10c so they’d know the agreement has been violated. This hurts 10c cuz information is leaked and 10c is accused of not being the first to come forward with the information. I personally don’t think venues respected 10c enough to allow them to announce first prior to their public sales announcement (see TM for one example).
I am not saying that I think Ten Club is losing control at all, but if the venues would maintain integrity and working together for the sake of the fan club members, it would have a better outcome. And the fans themselves doing their part to help combat unethical practices or sharing information with 10c what they know for the sake of their fellow 10c members. They can only do so much by themselves.
That’s just my perspective and opinion… I could be wrong because I don’t really know how things operate inside 10c and the people they have made agreements with, but based on what I’ve been seeing here on the board and with several venues I had gone to. But I do know they care about their fans and try their best.
Sorry for the long message…but I wanted to put in my 2 cents and even with the upcoming tour that will be announced, there will always be problems that need to be solved and trying to make the system to work for the fans, not a few who screw it up for everyone else for their own personal benefits.
Let’s give 10c a chance and work with them… with more of us working with them by protecting each other by making sure people are honest and held accountable, then 10c will become even stronger.
When the fan club does f'd up sh*t like the Lottery for EV tour and many of us got left out and others got tix to multiple shows.. I can assure you that fans like myself often feel forced to work around the system to get in the door and not pay a$$hole scalpers ridiculous prices for seats in the rafters.. I have been getting tenclub tickets since 2003 and other than the vote for change tour have never had seats on the floor or the first side sections.. Not complaining.. just saying that the way things are seniority based really isn't all that fair... Do I think it will or even should be changed? I don't know.. I think it's a cool thing for long-time members.. But for the rest of us.. As long as it is run this way we will have to pull any strings we can to get better seats than the sh*tty ones that we usually end up with from the fanclub.. I am a member because of the "holiday" single and the posters and vinyl sales.. I am not hating on 10club... There are alot of us wanting tickets to so few shows... The front is prime real estate... Atleast they are doing everything they can to keep real folks up there and not snot-nosed spoiled rich kids who just wanna hear Better Man and Even Flow... But the rest of us who weren't in the loop about fanclub ticketing until later in the game are just totally screwed... As far as when and how we are being told of things... We all just need to learn to be flexible and be PUMPED not P*ssed-off when they announce a 2nd show!! Come on.. Even if your planning limits you to just one show.. YOU ARE SEEING PEARL JAM!!!! You should be SOOOO EXCITED!! Wish I could see the full band this year.. Probably won't happen.. They are sending Ed down here to the south to "test the waters" and maybe, just maybe they will bring that rock n roll caravan down our way this fall (fingers crossed) I guess I should be satisfied with 3 EV shows, huh? (Yeah, I did get tickets.. No, they aren't from tenclub.. No, they aren't on the floor at any of the 3 shows.. but they are decent..) So, This post was unusually long and only partially on-target.. Thanks for Reading LOL
This is false information, airline tickets are best priced up to two weeks from departure....booking four months in advance is a poor course of action, particularly when one books "non refundable".
Easy to say asshat as you are sitting in Chicago by the looks of your picture. If booking airline tickets more than two weeks in advance is such a poor course of action - why does anyone do it?
Fact is I fly into Chicago often from my location and know that if you don't book well in advance, your paying 3x and if you wait two weeks before, you're not getting a seat.
If you want to debate the original post - then offer some clarity around the ratioanle for announcing some unconfirmed dates as opposed to others.

It is what it is man...And complaining about the ten c on here is a good way to not ever win any ten c lotteries ;p Must keep in mind that everything we say now is linked to our ten c numbers and basically our entire pearl jam existence ;p Just sayin.........

Sorry 10c for the emotional outburst - 10c been berry, berry good to me. I paid my extra $150 to change airline tickets and now I can move on and and enjoy both shows - of course, from my seats in the front row of the bathroom now

I don't want to sound like a know it all, but I work in the music industry and I find 99% of ten club related threads on here to be totally hilarious. Like the people who are working at TC have this evil plan to screw people by announcing things late or something. You cannot even imagine what goes into planning these tours... There is just massive amount of information, contacts, emails, contracts, merch, licenses, this, that and the other, all floating around. I promise you that when this info finally trickles down to TC they give it to us as fast as possible. It's not like they're in the meetings, on the calls, or cc'd in the emails finalizing shows. It's just an insane process. One thing I've learned, everything has to be 100%, and you have to have ALL your shit together before you go public with anything. I mean, the bottom line is, Pearl Jam doesn't even have to have a fan club. It exist for us, $20 a year or not.
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...
Maybe the Ten/VHC should be disolved.
Then, there would no longer be an excuse to complain about these things... we would all hear about the ticket sales from the TicketMonster.
And a bonus plus... there wouldn't be any reason to complain about seniority.
...
Then, everyone would be happy.
Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!
Hail, Hail!!!
Fact is I personally don't believe Pj actually want to see the same faces in the same front row night after night after night..there's a hardcore group of fans that monopolises whatever ticketing/distributing system 10c have put up and as was seen a few years ago, and not surprisingly, the band do actually get tired of it & are surprised and annoyed about it & want everyone to have a shot at getting to see them up front just once in a while even...I think it was 98 somewhere and all the 'senior' 10c members found themselves at the back of some venue somewhere & I have it on good authority it was no slip up..it was very intentional...the guys on stage just got tired of seeing the same faces every single night..it's not fair on local fans and ordinary fans just coming to one show. The touring crowd are kinda like the SS..they *OWN* the front..and worse than that..they assume they have a right to 'cos 'they spend so much touring around after the band, ergo have a right to do so'
Fair enough, 10c? they could at least explain why all dates cant be announced together, thus letting people plan and manage their finances/ability to get there..thats just common courtesy.
But as with any case of group think, their morally/ethically unassailable in their motives/actions.
Just say thanks and do your best to get into the show and enjoy it no matter where yer sittin..
10c? they could at least explain why all dates cant be announced together,
Give the guys a break... people asked to have at least an IDEA of where they will tour, even if unconfirmed, they told us. Now that we have that, we want them to explain/justify themselves, etc. Give a finger, take an arm (or rather WANT an arm!)!!
They don't hold back on info so they can entertain themselves reading all these threads and, PJ as a business, really don't have to tell us everything going on behind the scenes. What business does?
