    thank fuck we have GA....

what is it with Americans and having to have a seat at a rock concert? :?
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Why not allocate a certain % for each member range in the Ten Club and have a lottery on those percetages?

    ##xxx - 40% of lottery tickets
    100xxx - 30% of lottery tickets
    200xxx - 20% of lottery tickets
300xxx and above - 10% of lottery tickets

Just a thought. I'm in the 200 range, this would not bother me at all.... senoirity should be rewarded imo.

Don't get me wrong man, I love the lottery. It will probably be my only chance of seeing them close up. I hope it doesnt go away. I just can see where alot of people with senoirity wouldnt like it. I guess this was a comprimise. and i just through those percentages out there. I am sure there would be a better breakdown then what i gave.

Here we go with labeling people again. I guess everyone who has been in the club longer than you must have an elitist attitude. I have been in the club a long time and I think that what the 10C did in '08 was fantastic for everybody, including "elitists" like myself. Funny how you generalize people as elitists because I know of a few elitists who like myself, realize we have great seats and often share our tickets with other members who might never have a chance to be so close. Way to be open minded...you should check out the thread about feeling less like a family lately, it is right down your alley. :D

I'm sorry..i assumed most people where smart enough to know that i was only addressing the ones who act in this fashion....i am very well aware that not ALL long time fan club members are elitist...maybe you should read MY post in the thread about feeling less like a family lately.

I am smart enough to realize when someone generalizes others for convenience, giving themselves an opportunity to rant. I did read your post in the family thread...it was a good point and I am glad you see that there are all kinds of good people at the show. I just get a little defensive when people label old timers as elitists when most of as are the furthest from that. thanks

the membership base doesn't exist in a vaccuum, by which i mean 10C has been able to fund itself as well as the band's daily operations primarily through 10C membership dues. 10C won't exist forever, and PJ won't keep touring indefinitely. having said that, a young fan/an old fan/a casual fan who signed up for 10C membership recently can't realistically expect to get 25 years of 10C membership benefits. new PJ fans will come along LONG after the band, the 10C, and even some of us are long gone.

the seniority system currently rewards the fans who have consistently paid membership dues. regardless of whether one's membership number is 100,XXX or 400,XXX, if he/she chooses to renew every year then he/she is rewarded with seniority as well as a chance to purchase 10C pre-sale tickets. i believe in that system, and i know most of the membership base does as well. i also believe in the lottery system and like the idea of rows 1-2 and 9-10 being allocated to random members at every show. i'd also like to see the wings on the immediate sides of the stage being used in the lottery as well.

ultimately, 10C might want to consider staggering 10C pre-sales for members, because as long as the membership base continues to grow, then less tickets become available to an evergrowing group of members as we all battle it out simultaneously for highly-coveted tickets,...
To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

"Me knowing the truth, I can not concur."

08 was fine; seniority and a few rows of lottery; otherwise, those who have been here longer are not afforded fairness

No one actually sits in them at a Pearl Jam show. Most people are standing while rocking out big time. Its just how our amphitheaters are made.

get rid of seated floors and go for GA shows! that is the real solution! :D:D:D

This made the 3 nights in San Francisco quite fun in 2006. It reminded me of when I saw them in the UK in 2000. I didn't actually go down on the floor as I brought my folks to some of the shows and decided it better to hang out with them in the seats, but it was nice to see an open floor at a PJ show.

The only part of your rant that even made some sense to me is that fact that is isn't 1994.

That's funny, over the past 10 years I have yet to see one listing on StubHub or ebay saying "I am a Pearl Jam fan club member with fan club seats. I don't know where my seats will be located but they will be in the building. Pay me $300 now, meet me at the venue the day of and you will get your random tickets". Sorry to tell you but you are wrong. People aren't doing that. As a matter of fact, I highly doubt that membership enrollments are at a record high. They haven't had a hit album in years.

I think the best solution is doing GA shows. One of the best parts of the Borgata show was the ability to get there early and stand where I wanted. I don't have a chance at getting all that close with my 10 Club seats. Everyone has a fair shot. if you want front row you will just have to be prepared to stand in line for a few hours.

With all due respect, you're totally missing the point. The reason you don't see that is because the people who get the great seats would never risk losing their membership by scalping the tickets.

If the system was totally random, not only would a bunch of people join just for the hell of it, but there'd be a bunch of people who get their tickets at the window and then try to scalp them in person or on their I-phone or whatever. And why not? If you get caught by the 10-C and lose your membership, you can just have your buddy or girlfriend sign up for an account next tour, and have the same shot at great seats.

The system they used in 2008 is very much in the best interest of the collective fanbase IMO.

more should be done by the way of senority -- some people have been the club since the 90's -- why should they have to give up their spot for a guy who joins 1 week before tix go on sale

I would prefer the lottery again for the 1st and 2nd, 9th and 10th rows. I won the lottery in Virginia Beach last year and we have been in the second row. Great seats.
During the other concerts we had our seats based on seniority and this was ok. My # 29xxxx. I don't need as close as possible to the band at ervery concert.

GA is great - but you need to come very early to the arena. I remember the last europe tour where fans have been at the arena at 7 am.

Keep the systems from the last 2008 tour, please :D

Just saw Neil in Denver and he had a GA floor, and it was great. The people who are diehard enough to wait for 14 hours are rewarded.
