what specifically is your issue with the most current system in which 4 rows are decided by a lottery?

don't you think the band feeds off of the new/added energy in the front row, especially when compared to the same old faces (and please don't feed me any ****shit that those pioneers get as excited hearing even flow, jeremy, or corduroy for the nth time)

I honestly detected little or no difference between the energy/reactions of the people in the front row last tour, once the show started, as I had in previous years.

That said, I still like and support that lottery.

I don't have a great Ten Club number and I am OK with the fact that I am destined to have average tickets (especially for popular shows like those in Boston). However, I would love to just have seats within the first 20 rows at least once. :(

    share it around!
what is a row or 2 further back, really!
The lottery gives every member the same chance to get into the front 2 rows.

Be thankful that you even have the chance at this, coz you sure wouldn't get it with ticketbastard!

The 1st and 2nd, 9th and 10th rows random is cool with me, leave the rest by seniority, as it was on the last tour. I have a 162,xxx number and am just now FINALLY getting close...

I like how everyone has a shot at the front 2...that was a good addition.

But please keep Seniority for PJ shows. :ugeek:

Lottery is fine for these small venue Ed shows, where demand far exceeds amount of tickets, but it is a non-issue with the large venue PJ shows. (Well, maybe an issue for a couple places like NYC, etc...)

    I am on the fence.

In general, I like the lottery. The problem is that I think there are hundreds of people out there who have signed up for the 10C in the past year just to "hit the lottery" ... and I am betting that there are many scalpers in that group.

You can't be serious. Who is doing this? Why this year? This isnt 1994, most people don't give a flying fuck about PJ anymore. And you have to have your membership in place before they even announce tourdates. You think a bunch of scalpers are signing up, dropping money every year just on the offchance that MAYBE PJ will tour and change their system to give the scalper a great ticket? PJ shows don't even sell out anymore man... it's not like this is Bruce Springsteen we're talking about.

I remember at the Albany, '06 show, Eddie said to the crowd "...why do I seem to see the same fuckin' people up front here at every show?"

Perhaps this is why they mixed things up in '08. I really liked the idea of the lottery, it gave people hope that they might win better seats, while still catering to seniority. I have a 400xxx number, I didn't win, but still like the idea of it being a possibility I may get up front for a change.

which is exactly why distribution was "mixed up" at the '06 Grand Rapids show,...

Keep the lottery! Spread the love!!!

I have a crappy 10 Club number and would love the chance to sit up close for one show.

Those who think they should sit in the front row for every single concert are selfish jerks!

I'm for whatever the band wants. I think it was thier idea to have different people in the front rows for a few shows.

Grand Rapids 06. The massive ticket screw up (which I think was an experiment done on purpose). Ed seemed like he enjoyed watching the crowd show some excitement in front for a change.

And I was at The Gorge in 06. During one of the last songs. (Rockin in the Free World I think). He said to the crowd
"Hey, People in the front. look at the people in the back! LOOK AT THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!!!"

I'm not a big boot collector, does anyone know of any other examples where Ed seemed less than impressed with the front row?

I bet you that between the two of us we could take him down and take both of his tickets... I mean, we'll leave him alive enough to drag himself onto the lawn for the 3rd encore.

Better idea yet! I get night one, you get night two. ;)

well let me take that spoon off your hands and give it a stir myself....

first of all I'm so sick of the "I've been in the fan club for xx years so i deserve to have a better concert experience than all of you" bullshit!!........FUCK YOU AND YOUR 3 DIGIT 10c # !!! this elitist, arrogant, condescending sense of entitlement mentality pisses me the fuck off!!!!!!!!!!

I have loved this band just as long as most of you..I just didn't get into seeing them live till 5 years ago..so you think being in the fan club before me makes you special and you should sit up front for ever? FU !! Then 10c tries to share a piece of the love with a lotto for 4 stinking rows and i had to come on here and see you "veteran club members" bitch and moan about it? FU !! that shit put a bunch of you in a very ugly light !!

funny how we consider ourselves a close knit community....till someone has to sit a couple rows further back at a show. :lol::lol::lol::lol:

    ok.....I'm done :mrgreen::mrgreen:

wait.....fuck ticket limitations!! if i want to go to every show that's my Biz!! PJ plays in venues that hold 10s of thousands of people so using the Ed solo rules wouldn't make sense..and you won't see it!PERIOD!!.....guaranteed!! :mrgreen:8-)

Here we go with labeling people again. I guess everyone who has been in the club longer than you must have an elitist attitude. I have been in the club a long time and I think that what the 10C did in '08 was fantastic for everybody, including "elitists" like myself. Funny how you generalize people as elitists because I know of a few elitists who like myself, realize we have great seats and often share our tickets with other members who might never have a chance to be so close. Way to be open minded...you should check out the thread about feeling less like a family lately, it is right down your alley. :D

I don't think that there is any solution that will make everyone happy but I for one do think the lottery is a good idea and I feel like most fans do too. But one idea which hasn't been tossed around at all is, would it be better if lottery winners didn't get the first 2 rows? Obviously those fans have signed up the longest and stuck with the band through absolutely everything so why not let them keep their ultra seniority and just have the lottery for rows 10-12 or something like that? I think that might be better and appease a lot of people.

I joined 4 years ago. I don't really give a rats ass where I sit, as long as I see Pearl Jam.
That's what I'm there for, that's what I traveled for.
I'm very happy when I get to see the band, plain and simple. I scored some seats that I enjoyed a whole bunch from a lad on this board (thx again btw) who's been in the club a lot longer than I have, and it was awesome! I've also sat pretty high up before I was in 10club...still, I loved the show!
The lottery is a great idea, and fuck the people who don't like it. Sorry that you can't sit up 4 fucking feet closer.

People are doing it. Trust me.

The only part of your rant that even made some sense to me is that fact that is isn't 1994.

I'm sorry..i assumed most people were smart enough to know that i was only addressing the ones who act in this fashion....i am very well aware that not ALL long time fan club members are elitist...maybe you should read MY post in the thread about feeling less like a family lately.
