it IS funny. i see a lot of people say "oh the edge thinks he's hot shit because he gave himself a kick ass nickname what a douche" but i've been reading up on u2 (i bought u2 by u2, it just so happened to be on sale for $15!) and he's supposedly called the edge because he's ugly. plus so many people say "oh i hate bono he's such a douche and he thinks he's better than everyone" when i don't really get that vibe from him; even he admits he can be annoyingly preachy. ugh.
anywaaay, i just got my mom to get me rattle and hum. i think she was happy to get it since she actually got to see it in theaters and now i get to see it now all i need is a ticket to one of their giants stadium shows. and i guess i could get the live in paris cd. god it's good to be a fan of a band with so much shit to get!
Yeah, for a guy as wealthy and influential as Bono is, he could be a lot worse. Everything he does, he does from the heart. I'm always shocked that in a world of Paris Hiltons, people get so pissed off about the fact that when they see Bono in the news he's fighting AIDS or poverty rather than clubbing. I don't get it.
I've never seen U2 live, the last 3 tours something has always prevented me from going, and I'm afraid this year could turn out to be the same :( I'm seriously considering flying to Carolina to see them with Muse opening... wanna go?
What's even funnier is that in the upcoming documentary movie It Might Get Loud, The Edge is showing how he plays Elevation. And without the effects, it really is as simple as that. (At least, that's what I got from the short promo about the movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl9iS2egnC0 with Edge's part around the 1:20 mark)
(P.S. For those who haven't heard about it, It Might Get Loud is a documentary about the electric guitar, featuring Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White. I think it opens in some US theatres this Friday, August 14th)
i also really need a ticket to one of their concerts pronto. it just sucks that i got into them this badly a full month after tickets went on sale. GRRR!
If you go on their U2 site's message board, you can search if anyone selling NY tickets. They are all face value.

i went on the board 2 days after i saw GA tickets for sale. i JUST missed out! it's so frustrating!
I've been a fan of U2 for years, had all the albums way back but ended up giving most away because I wasn't listening to them after a few years. The re-issue of Joshua Tree hooked me back in again and I've since collected them all again and am really looking forward to the last night of the tour in Europe a week on Saturday. Some 2 weeks... 3 Pearl Jam shows and U2. It doesn't get better.
Favourite album is Achtung Baby, closely followed by the first 5, the order of those does differ on a daily basis. Rattle & Hum is excellent but it feels kind of cobbled together to me (not seen the film though) so I tend to pass over it most times.
Somewhere I have the original CD single issue of With Or Without You I think.
The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits
