If PJ were to play a small venue in Philly, it would have to be the Trocadero. Larger than J.C. Dobbs. A Troc/Spectrum weekend .

would be cool but way too small, i mean it's a little bigger than the irving plaza, but it would have to be one of those special warm up / fan club only show deals.

I'd be there if it happened :)
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

one of my very close girlfriends worked for the Flyers/Phantoms up until 3 weeks ago..I talked to her last night and she said they've been talking about shows for Pearl Jam at the spectrum for close to 4 months now. Apparently the venue is desperately trying to get as much money out of the old building as possible before slamming the door. They asked U2, Bruce, PJ, Bob Dylan, The Dead, Billy Joel, all the old acts that played there so many times. Some bit some didnt. She said U2 was trying to fit it in but their promo tour didnt allow it. It was never going to be able to happen on their world tour. It was going to be a stop on the promo circuit a few weeks ago. Bruce is playing it, The Dead are, so lets hope PJ does it

Makes sense... Green Day just announced yesterday that they are playing the Spectrum in July. Kings of Leon played there on Friday night - it was awesome.

I don't post but felt that this was a pretty good time I guess.....I was out to dinner at the beginning of last month with a good friend and his sister...She works for Comcast-Spectacor (The company that runs the complex).. At this time PJ was in negotiations...The rumor she heard was three nights...It is pretty amazing how they are able to keep things so quiet...But three nights in September or October was on the table...When rumors happen with stuff like this (with PJ), it usually works itself out

I'd be interested to hear the dates that they are talking about. My guess it that it would most likely be October after ACL.

i guess i was just 1 year late on my prediction

but honestly, the spectrum at this point is a shell of itself and a shithole... but it is our shithole and we love it :D

Yeah was reminded again why they are tearing down the Spectrum while trying to make my way through the concourse before the Springsteen show last night (think cattle herding).... that said, the acoustics are incredible!!!

i don't want to start a new thread, thought this might be an appropriate place:

selling the 2 "philadelphia" bootlegs from 2000 (actually shows in camden) from 9/1 and 9/2

Opened but never played and mint.

$25 for the pair. I think thats fair, its almost original price.

    Let me know.

I'll never see a show at the Susquehanna Bank center again.

Night 1 we parked, and it took up 3 hours to get out of our parking space. Not the lot....just the parking space. It took another few to get back to the hotel.

Then next night, we decided it wasnt worth it to bring the car to that hellhole, so we took the ferry. they had ONE ferry for the entire population. It took us the same amount of time to get back to the hotel.

It was such a post-concert buzzkill, I will never go there again.

    rant over.

The NJ Transit line that brings you straight up to the venue is usually a good plan. Last time, though, we got screwed. We were dumped at some random stop, and had to wait nearly 45 minutes for a bus to come pick us up. It was so weird. Usually, though, it's a brilliant way to get in/out of the venue.

That said, I still am keeping my hopes up for the Spectrum. My source also said a few nights in Sept/Oct, and has been saying it for several weeks. It looks good to me.

Worst idea. Ever. EF is TERRIBLE acoustically. Just awful. Perhaps your hearing is damaged?
Troc would be good. TLA would too. But Electric Factory? No f'ing way. Sorry.

It has got to be the Spectrum. WMMR played an interview from 2005 with Matt Cord & Jeff. Jeff talked about how important the Spectrum was to him, he called it the house that Dr. J built. With such dedication to a building with all that history, they should play there before it shuts down. Besides, I wrote them a letter asking them to play the Spectrum before it closes. Yes, regular mail.

Not necessarily. It wouldn't surprise me if Philly is a one-off in 2009 for the northeast, a special show(s) because of the Spectrum closing down.

Could be... but with the expense to ship their gear, have Rock It Cargo handle it and get it on trucks and to a venue... to hit a number of stops while they're at it seems more logical. But if they just HAVE to play the venue before it's gone, then they may just pay the price, or simply have local sound instead of Rat sound, and local lights instead of their tour lighting company. PJ just always seems to use specific companies for their productions, and it seems it would be a lot of effort to get all their band gear and tour gear for one gig. Then again, they did Borgata and the arena as just 3 shows, so who knows. :)

No rat sound would be a def deal breaker
They've spoiled me for too long with perfect sound at every show

went to the dead show at the spectrum tonight, i went to the ticket window and asked the lady "hey,is pearl jam playing here?" and she grabbed a clipboard, looked at it, and said "seems like that one is not official yet" so i pushed my luck and asked to look at her clipboard, that didn't happen. i wanted to push the issue, but there were people behind me.

good try. next time someone tries that trick, simply ask "when is pearl jam playing" since youre asking a better question first and you catch them equally off guard. i love social engineering. ...though we should hear an announcement on monday.
