17€ per night for a single room, that's a perfect price for me :-). And seemingly it isn't that far away from the Wuhlheide. And from the looks of it the rooms are okay.
I'm still looking for a ticket to get into the building! But 10c would be very nice. I deserve it!
:P
Ey up,
I possibly have a spare now. I was taking a boy friend person but since that's gone tits up I'll probably be going to Berlin on my own now. If you get another offer, take it, and I shall confirm closer to the time!
Right me and a friend are travelling and we are very confused ha.
We looked at staying at a hostel right by the station or maybe in the city centre (as we going by train to berlin) but then we would pay loads of money for taxis getting to and from the venue, then i need to get to Flughafen Berlin Schönefeld.
We also considered flying to Flughafen Berlin Schönefeld then staying at a place nearby and then getting a hostel which is nearby the venue and doing it that way. I need to work out how much the flight is from rotterdam and the train i guess.
Ye'd think the Germans would have an after-show bar picked out by now
hehe... i'm german but ive never been close to the concert area... in another thread like "berlin bars" i answered a post with some web-links i found, but i dont know any good location and i think the area around the venue isnt berlins "party area #1" ...

What are people's plans for the Berlin part?
But you don't need to pay taxis, your ticket for the show includes free transportation, i think is three hours before the doors open until three am of the next day. Berlin is the easiest city to move, public transportation is incredibly good, it's so much better to use the train to go to the venue than paying a cab.
At least two or three friends are coming to Berlin, so we might not be a lot, but maybe we can start planning something if somebody wants to join, as it was said before, close to the venue there is nothing, but not far from there, there is an area full of bars, Friedrichschein or Kreuzberg are the options, I know a couple of rock bars that are very good, i think I already posted the links for them in the thread.
And don't worry about going to Schönefeld, I can explain you where and when to take a regional train and get there safe.
I feel very close to you all now; so close I could almost... loan you money. Really. it goes that deep.

I actually just looked at the map there now, and the venue is quite a bit outside the centre! I hope to be staying around Friedrichshain or Mitte, so I guess the S-Bahn or U-bahn will be going from Ostbahnhof?
(Actually, I just answered my own question by doing a search here The S3 from Ostbahnhof will get me there, grand )
Any of you know if there are any other shows happening in Berlin that week? I'll be there from the Monday or so and will be looking for something to do besides hangin' out with Rob Halford and dancing in K17
Going to fly from Amsterdam to Schuiasdn;ndsfuibsdf and stay in a hostel which is inbetween the airport and venue, i need to use that airport for my flight back too.
Do you still need a spare ticket? Also, you can get yerself a nifty transport map thingy telling you where you need to go. Don't think I've ever been lost there!

I'm really excited about going back to Berlin!
if you are asking me, then nope, im all sorted on the ticket front. Holland + Germany are a few of the countries i havent been to in Europe, all i got left that i want to visit is Italy and Portgual after the August tour.

No other concerts the week before, I guess the city is reserving itself to rock at the beat of PJ

Need to try many beers!! Any suggestions for a pub near the HIlton or Concert venue?

i dont really know of any places, but i am definatly wanting to meet folk for a drink before and after, two bars i've been told about are '8mm' and 'white trash' anyone know of them? can say if they are worth a visit?
i know a few of us are staying at the same hotels, and that berlin has good transport system, so i guess we can meet somewhere central, it'll should be easy to find our way back to our own accomodation.
I am getting really excited now to see PJ again! only like a month and a half now! better book my flight !

give me a call or tell me when you get here, I will gladly join you and go for some beers.

Near the concert venue there is nothing, just woods, but don't worry the Hilton is located downtown, not far from there you can find a lot of bars (station Oranienburgerstr. you have to take the U6 underground, the Hilton is close to Französischestr, which is only two stations away or if you don't mind you can walk from there).
SarahLou:
There are some rock clubs in Berlin, but I have to say that if you are not from here, White Trash is worth the visit, totally different from what I've seen, of course it depends on the mood of the people some times feels like a normal bar but I've had really crazy nights there
Since many of us are also going to Rotterdam, I suggest we make it official and at least have one meeting on Friday night (14th), as Sarah said, we can gather some where central and then move to maybe a couple of bars, I know some places in Kreuzberg and Prenzlauerberg.
For all the people that might be staying in Berlin on the 13th, check Sage Club in Henrich Heine Str. (U8 station), this place really rocks on thursday nights
