MMJ actually really sucked when they opened in Cleveland 2006. I haven't cared for the band since. I've been a huge fan of KoL since their first album, but haven't gotten to see them open for PJ.

Well, one band that no one has said so far I think, is Sparta. I really enjoyed there first album. They also introduced me to Kings of Leon, which I then introduced to my girlfriend, and I think they are her favorite band. But I actually did not see either Sparta or KOL open for PJ (unless you count Lolla) but I always check out the bands who are opening.

It was funny though, going through this thread I saw Sonic Youth, and I was like, holy shit, I totally forgot I even saw them, they opened my first PJ show, and I sort of forgot!

Also, I have to say, I did not like SK at all when I saw them at MSG in 2003, but when I saw them in Canada in 2005 they kicked serious ass.

I have been pretty pleased with my opening bands experience so far when it comes to PJ.
words seem so out of place.

yes..thats what im talking bout:) good stuff!
  • In August 1993 I saw some guys named Blues Traveler and then Soundgarden open for PJ... as they opened for Uncle Neil. I can't say that PJ "turned me on to them" as I'd heard of both before, but became much bigger fans after hearing both live. Thanks PJ. (side note, Cornell played his guitar on the last song until every string was broken... that was sick to watch).

Since then, I'm gonna have to add a +1 to the KoL list. I dig those guys a lot and never heard of them before PJ.

I still don't know much about MMJ, but everyone's endorsement on here has piqued my interest.... if I start to like them does 10c turning me on to them count?

    have a good one ya'll.

Sleater Kinney was my fav. opening band by far. I love KOL but never saw them open for PJ and MMJ is pretty good too. Their albums are great so I would love to see MMJ is a smaller setting b/c I don't think their sound is the same in a half empty arena. They were still amazing as an opener.
