Best: Wolfmother
Worst: Opening band in Vienna 2006... don't even remember the name! Or actually, having Linking Park before them in Lisbon was pretty bad :-s
LOfuckinL. Tarantula A.D. Worst band Ever... My brother and I looked at each other and we were like "wtf". and to think we only missed KoL by a few days!!!!
Kings of Leon. I didn't know what they sang before I saw them support the boys in 2006. I went and saw them play at the same venue about a month ago.
i was impressed with KoL live in nijmegen, really enjoyed their set! got an album, can't think which one....didn't enjoy em AS much, but still good. incubus opened that day too, but i already loved them. i'd say that death cab for cutie is probably one of my fave bands, and i'd not have known of them if not for VFC and pj. as to other openers, can honestly say most of em....really no love there.
Sleater Kinney hands down. After seeing them so many times on the 03 tour I was hooked. I back tracked their entire catalog and saw a few of their stand alone shows including one of the last ones ever. They kick (kicked) so much ass that I hope every day that they get together again down the road.
*** Have you ever heard their homage to Pearl Jam when they changed the lyrics to "Youre no rock n roll fun" ? Its pretty awesome.
After SK I would put Death Cab, MMJ, and KOL all it the next tier as far as my personal preference.
baby boomers selling you rumors of their history, forcing youth away from the truth of what's real today.
Kings Of Leon without a doubt. Enjoyed them so much I went and bought their back catalogue as well as the new album.

It's Idlewild for me, I think Roddy & the boys are one of the most underrated bands around. I also love Kings of Leon.

Couldn't agree more. It's near criminal that Idlewild haven't been given a major push in the US. Every album since 100 Broken Windows could have been massive over here. Commercial enough to be a hit, but solid enough to be a great listen.
Well, I've seen PJ 3 times now, Dublin 2006 we had Paddy Casey... 'nuff said. Reading had loads of stuff so I don't count anything there, being a festival and out of PJ's control. Idlewild were excellent in 2007, I'd seen them 2 years previously open for the Pixies in Edinburgh. For a band that's not that well known they sure draw the luck when it comes to being asked to open for people. Only bad thing was Teenage Fanclub were on that bill and I missed them.
The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits
I guess for me it would have to be Ben Harper...Saw him open for PJ at both Randalls Island shows back in 1996
Altho I have never seen Ben Harper, I checked him out after a friend sent me some live stuff he did with PJ, and I really like him.. I was there in 96 aswell... aged 10 I wish
London Astoria - Dublin - Wembley - Shepherds Bush - London 02
i really liked sparta, which led me to check out at the drive in, and now i crave a reunion. sparta seems to be one of the least popular in recent years. theyre probably one of the few support acts that didnt get to join in on ritfw either, best as i can remember

KOL didn't open for them that year until the OZ shows 2 months later..you must be thinking of either Wolfmother couple of weeks before or My Morning Jacket 5 days before (Black Keys opened Berlin 2 nights before and Tarantula also in Prague 3 nights before)
Tarantula was weird... but I still didn't mind them so much after having endured 8 previous MMJ openers  (I need the throwing up/bored-to-tears emoticon! literally I cried of boredom at Lisbon 2  )
Favorite: Kings of Leon
Least Favorite: Ted Leo :x
Yeeeeeah...
I'm glad to see some Idlewild love on here too - they are on my list for sure, even though they're a bit lower profile than Ben Harper and KoL and MMj etc..

Ted Leo is great, his sound is just not meant for an arena.
Honestly, Liam Finn is the only act that I didn't have a decent handle on when I went to a PJ/EV show ... the many times I've seen PJ, I've known the openers.
So ... Liam is is. (I prefer my Liam with EJ, thank you)
