It seems like there are quite a few bars around the 02 venue: http://tinyurl.com/lxyfv5

I won't be around for the Manchester drinks as I am going with some friends who live there, and staying at their house. I am up for a pre and/or post drink meet up if their is one, I haven't booked my hotel yet as the guy I am supposed to be going with is messing around, so I might be down London on my own, I dont get to London until about 3:30 from Manchester so I might be original and go for the docklands travellodge. As my friend is pretty certain to drop out I *may* have a spare seated ticket (I have to talk to another friend who wanted to go). My number is 310xxx and of course face value will be applied!

Can't wait, only a month to go :)

There are loads of pubs, but there's not a cheap one in sight...

  • Man it's been a while since I visited here...

Anyhoo, you're all now added to the bloody list!! Happy now?!

Right, the badges are here and ready to be dished out at the Manchester and London shows/parties. I need people's help though... people are asking me (why me?!) where the pre-show gathering is happening in London and as far as I'm aware we don't have a location yet. Now, I know there's loads of bars in the venue but they're rather expeno and people have feigned interest.

If anyone knows of a good (cheapish) pub near the O2 that would hold a mass of PJ fans, please post and let us know!!

I'ma startin' me a thread on the subject too... there's no escaping...

By the way, I forgot to mention I'll be +3

So, what time should we meet up before and where?
And when will we rock up to the o2? Should we pick up our tickets before drinks or after?

If there are no cheap pubs in central London. Why don't we go to the offie and invade a local parK?
we're all going to the same place...

I will be there with a big fat smile on my face! :-). Ooh, and my wife too. She was pissed she missed the Copenhagen show back in ´07, since she had to stay at home with our, then, 11 days old daughter, so I have to take her along this time :D. We're flying in from Copenhagen on monday.

London is shit really isnt it... no parks near that venue and all the pubs are crap and no doubt are closed by 11pm.

most exciting city in the world?... aye, if you are a concrete loving nun.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

So my question: Is it really that hard to find a location? Is that "curfew thing" really that general or are there many exceptions?

answer: yes... London is shit. No-one who lives there actually knows any pubs that stay open. On a Tuesday night we will struggle to find a pub, let alone a pub thats open after 11pm.

    its crap.

There must be a pub or two open in SoHo that we could shoot to after the show...

yes, but those people dont recommend places to go... i kinda helped set-up a place to go to after the wembley show last time only to be forewarned by a Londonist that if it was shit then it was my fault... i dont even fucking live there and i had to take the blame for a club being shite? how does that work?:lol:

I actually really like London, some of the bars certainly beat the shit out of smelly Flippers (that I'll still go to   ) Btw, the most expensive pint in London is nowhere near as much as a cheap pint of piss in Dublin! €5 or £4 at least!

I also really enjoyed the tube ride that Keith brought us on the last time :D

    The Big Red - open till 1am http://www.metaltravelguide.com/mtg/ind ... &Itemid=56

    Crobar - open till 3am http://www.crobar.co.uk/

The Intrepid Fox - open till 1am http://www.intrepidfox.com/

And The Underworld, that I seem to have an unfounded dislike for. Yer man that played with PJ in MSG last year (CJ Ramone, whoever he is  ) is playing on the 18th Aug. Open till 4am, but quite 'spensive http://www.theunderworldcamden.co.uk/

Quite right and not only that, if you are in the right company, why the fuck would the pub be of any importance? it sells beer, there is good chat, cool people? what more can you want?

  • Can I stress...

I have drank in The Crobar 100 and 1 times, if you are planning on drinking there after the gig be prepared - IT'S ABSOLUTELY TINY AND YOU MAY GET TURNED AWAY AS THEY WON'T LET YOU DRINK ON THE STREET

    That's my tuppence worth.

Anyhoo... Jamie UK suggested a great place for PRE show drinkies...

There is a thread on the subject (http://forums.pearljam.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=104272) and I will update this one when something is decided by the masses.

That is all... move along now...

    *coughs* crobar is tiny.

I know a lot of people are staying in the same hotel so drinks there may be an option (although they probably only let in guests).

Problem is O2 is in the middle of nowhere ... most people are staying near there ... so if drinks afterwards are Central then people are gonna have up to an hour on night buses to get back to their hotels ... and the area they're are staying is so far out there's not really any late night stuff around it.

Overall problem London is too BIG

Although not cheap ... if there is no event on that night ... the IndigO2 inside the O2 sometimes stays open until 1am (was last week when I went to NIN and had free entry ... think Metal Hammer were sponsoring it)

that time was more than fine... absolutely excellent place... you are bestest organiser from London ever! ;)8-)

but apres-show seems to be just too damned hard!!!

i'll meet Jamie and the others in that harry potter place... after the show i'll probably see what that IndigO2 place is like... and then after that i'm going to give Hitchy some manly bear-hugs.... and then after that i'm going to drink some nice red wine back at the hotel... probably have me some more manly bear hugs... maybe.
