I say Noel Gallagher....now hear me out. His band is so overrated that it has kinda became their identity. I mean, do you really think Liam thinks they are better than the Rolling Stones? Hard to say, but every passes them off and say they are overrated and suck; that said, Noel wrote some mega songs. So while his band may be overrated, he is underrated because nobody will mention him when you talk about great songwriters of this generation just on principle, but he is actually really good, or was I guess I should say

Paul Wagoner (Between the Buried and Me). He's an amazing guitarist. He can pull off both metal and jazz guitar excellently.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

Another amazing guitarist is Chris Duarte. Look him up on youtube, not many guitarists can perform like that. He plays small bars & clubs so the price is right & you can get up close. He really gets into playing, I highly recommend seeing him, you'll be amazed!
Seems that needlessly it's getting harder, to find an approach and a way to live

For me it has to be Michael Franti not only for his strong political lyrics but his social activisim and free 9/11 concerts in San Francisco every year since 1999.

I call my friend the barefooted wonder. :D

Maybe not so underrated anymore in that he played on the Jimmy Fallon show last night playing his new hit *SAY HEY (I Love You)*

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuHOXNGL1Yk

He plays here in Maryland this Saturday with the Counting Crows.

LIVING COLOUR! They are still out there making great records and touring, but playing small clubs... that shit ain't right!! They are one of the greatest bands ever! And they're kinda like Faith No More in the way that despite how many great songs they have, only one of them gets any radio play.

I wholeheartedly agree they're just below Michael Franti and Spearhead and I love LC. They just released a new album some weeks ago...*The Chair In The Doorway* a review by Rolling Stone...http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/alb ... he_doorway
"It's a bad time/ To be out of your mind," singer Corey Glover cautions in "Out of Mind," a brute-metal warning about staying sharp for battle on Living Colour's most focused record since their 1988 debut, Vivid. To these black-rock fighters, apocalypse is colorblind. The greed and fallout in Vivid's "Open Letter (To a Landlord)" still run deep in the enraged crunch of "DecaDance" and "Hard Times." But "Bless Those (Little Annie's Prayer)" is a hot ball of faith: Guitarist Vernon Reid slices across Doug Wimbish and Will Calhoun's porch-party strut with sacred-steel licks. Reid's playing is a thrill throughout; his solos sound like a mind blown wide but never to pieces.
