    Lukin, curious, why not Atlanta?
Trust me, that was my first choice, but since my wife is in school and it's finals week for her- she wouldn't be able to go. I wanted her to experience it too, so we took the closest show to us that is on a weekend

haven't tried it yet- but someone else said that you have to do one show- put your info in- pay- and then start a whole new transaction for the rollover show

And suggestions for some good hotels near the venue?

That would be Downtown.....if you have the money, and I mean plenty of it, check out the Peabody. It's nice, and historic. Def check it out even if you don't stay there. There's a great Holiday Inn downtown.

Honestly downtown is pretty easy to get to from anywhere, probably be cheap and easy to stay in Midtown or near the airport.

Suggestion: stay out of Orange Mound!

Orpheum is not far from the Beale St. area at all. The last few times I have been I've stayed at the Westin which is right behind Beale and that would be a relatively short walk to the theatre. The Westin is a tad pricy but definitely worth it for its convenience and proximity to the night life.

I am definitely down because Memphis is my favorite place in the world!! and only a three hour drive for me straight up I-55. The only problem is that the show is the week after Bonnaroo and since I am no Bill Gates that will tax my budget a good bit....but who the hell cares....it's Ed and you only live once!!! I do have a friend from high school who lives on Mud Island and another who can get us a free room in Tunica so I can pull it off with free lodging. Please pull my name!!! That would be one hell of a week!

EDIT: The Peabody is definitely a good place to stay as well and there is a Days Inn in the area as well...several options in the area

Sweet- thanks for the hotel advice!!

Once I have the confirmation of tickets, I think I'm going to give priceline a shot- for the downtown area. For those who remember the Columbia, SC 08 show thread, someone posted the minimum amount you needed for a 3 or 4 star hotel (can't remember) and the place was full of PJ fans- very cool!!!! I hope we can do that again for this show!

  • All of the hotels downtown are w/in walking distance or a trolley ride to the Orpheum. The hotels downtown start at $150/night + parking. The last time I stayed downtown we saw Ben Harper at the Orpheum 11/07. We stayed at the Springhill Suites which is a Marriott property. It was one apx $200/night with free parking. I would stay away from the Days Inn downtown.

You can also check West Memphis, AR for lodging. The places in West Memphis are safer, closer & a more simple drive to downtown than any other Memphis location.

The Gibson factory tour downtown is some of the best $10 I've ever spent.

Thanks for the tips. Hopefully I'll see you there (Jim from Detroit). I put in for the 20th show.

  • I've never tried for 10C tickets before, so based on the last Ed tour how many pairs should we expect to be sold? Plus, for the last tour were all of the 10C seats primo, first couple of rows or what?

God willing, me, PearlJim and a few other local jammers will be heading down there together. Too bad the Days Inn is skanky per a comment below. But, I'm sure we'll find nice and affordable rooms somewhere. 8-)
  • It would be great to see you Jim! I think Detroit 06 was the last time our paths crossed. Also, I think I took that pic of you in Hamelton.

Check into the Springhill Suites each room sleeps 5 easy & comfortably if you are planning on traveling with a group.

Dang, according to this site, it would take about 13 hours to drive from Detroit to Memphis -
    http://www.convertunits.com/drive/from/ ... emphis,+TN

So, I/we will have to leave at the crack of dawn Saturday morning, or very late Friday night.

the Sunday roll over show would not be a good option for me - I gots to get the Saturday night gig or it's a no go.

I placed my order for Saturday and Sunday. An easy three hour drive for me (sometimes less).

I would also like to go to Nashville. I may try for that when ticket sales go public. Of course, I may be trying to get Memphis tickets that way too. I'm usually not very lucky when it comes to PJ tickets.

Signed up for Saturday night. But I will try for Sunday, if I don't get Saturday. Only a 3 1/2 hour drive for me. I drove to the Columbia, SC show last year and it was 12 hours, I think. Don't want to do that again. Grateful that he's coming so close and for 2 nights.

    He did?? What bar??

I'm definitely trying for Memphis! I love Memphis, I used to live there, and most of my family lives there. I haven't been back in a few years and my grandfather wants me to come do a video biography of him and all his adventures all over town since 1925. Plus, I need to visit my great-grandmother in Arkansas. This would be a perfect opportunity to do all 3 things at once! I'd probably drive in from Albuquerque.
