It's not a sexism thing. It's a "I don't like female singers, singing over rock music" thing. I verified in another post that it's just not my thing. I like a few here and there, but as a whole, anything with a female lead singer I find to be pretty horrible.
Black Crowes and Pink Floyd are 2 of my favorite bands and there is plenty of female singin there.
I can't believe people can actually jump to conclusions in a display of such douchery. Don't be so fuckin judgemental.
I simply posted the logical conclusions I drew based on what I've read. I'm not interested in name calling or telling others to "pull the stick out of their asses." (Not your words of course, though "douchery" isn't much better)
It's not really logical. I said on the top of the 2nd page that female singers just weren't my thing.

You wrote the following in your first post:
"No. Female singers suck singing rock music, for the most part, imo. They have plenty of other things goin on in their music. They shouldn't try to ruin it."
How do you think this looks to someone who opens up the thread and starts reading? What other conclusion am I supposed to draw?
When you write a strong statement such as that one it's hard for me to take anything else you write seriously. You sounded like you had a strong conviction there, so why should I believe you when you come back and alter your story (not that much really changed)? You dug yourself a hole, as they say.
And for the record, I did not intend to single you out for a personal attack. I simply thought that your statement was exemplary of a common attitude that I've come across online, so I spoke up. It's not about being a nasty, judgmental person - it's about speaking up when I see something that elicits a reaction.
I'm sure you're a good guy and not a raging sexist, but I couldn't sit idly after reading that statement.

You're the only one that seems to have a problem with my statement. Nobody else is accusing me of sexism. What does "for the most part" mean? In the context it was used, it means that I like very little music with a female singer.
You blowin this way out of proportion makes it impossible to think that you are anything but an oversensitive whine ass. Get a fuckin grip.

The only time I used the word "sexist" was when I stated that I'm sure you're NOT one. "Close-minded" is a more accurate word for what I felt. It reminded me of when people state that they hate all rap music, for instance.
To answer your question, I think "for the most part" is a way of softening a statement that you know is harsh but have chosen to use anyway. Honestly though, I'm ready to leave this discussion behind.
I feel that I've used calm, respectful language. I haven't cursed at anyone, as you and the other fellow cursed at me. Apparently my words were not taken in the way they were intended, and for that I apologize.
Have a lovely evening. I'm going to head back to Other Music now.

Oh, so it's OK when you judge but not when others do?
I am stating that I don't generally like bands with female singers. If what I said is judgemental, then what I quoted from you is judgemental. Which neither is.
soclose took what I said and tried to twist it into a sexist statement. Don't ask me how.
When I typed "for the most part", I meant it pretty literally. Why would I soften a statement like that. If somebody is gonna get offended by me not liking female lead singing then, then they need to be not so soft.
There are a few bands with female lead singers that have crept into my collection, but not more than a handful of songs from one band.
I assure everyone, if Grace Slick or Stevie Nicks or Janis had weiners, I would listen to them the exact same amount that I do now.

i dunno, when i read it all i could think of was "i agree with that guy." i thought of those really sucky girl "rock" singers that mostly sing about how horrible boys are and how girls rule and blah blah blah... girl singers are pretty much annoying. scratch that, GIRLS are pretty much annoying. and yes, there will be some that aren't like that (Grace Slick was one of those names that came to mind first) but for the majority, girls are annoying rock singers. they just are. though i might be biased here, i pretty much hate most women and no, i'm not trying to soften that statement, i literally mean i hate most women.
People don't like Boom? Oh...Never new that. Have they not seen them live with Boom? Are they mildly retarded? LOL
Anyway, get me Joni Mitchell as a backup singer (for what song, I can't imagine) and I will be fine with it. Get someone like Courtney Love and I will take my life.

"To is a preposition.
Come is a verb"
Why the heck would they want to break something that's been fixed for almost two decades?
