    a pearl jam game????

i refuse to hit the link......i just dont want to know what the fuck it is....(video game????)

    all i know is this....

pearl jam can come up with a video game
    a pinball machine
    their own phone company
they can sell pearl jam hamburgers
they can sell pearl jam spaghetti sauce
they can have a pearl jam roast beef sandwich at ARBYS
they can have a pearl jam brand of motor oil
they can charge $140 for every album they release
they can charge $100 for posters
    blah
    blah
    blah..........

i just dont care....its not important to me

as long as they tour every couple of years......and i can go to a few shows....

    then im good.............

Could not have said it better myself. I could give two shits about all this stuff they do on the side. As long as I can see them live every 2 years, who really cares about all the other stuff.

You have to defend them to your friends?? Find some new friends.

I think it's kinda cool to be able to be able to hear a couple of the tracks before the "big day"... it sucks that the game itself is boring and tedious, but.... as said in this thread, it is a SONY venture and thus we should just enjoy the chance to hear some tunes at work! :)

anyone who doesn't like it, don't play! pretty simple.

    Defend? 3 Things:

    1. Why do you feel the need to defend them?
    2. Does a corny puzzle game created by the band's former label really warrant questioning the band's integrity?
    3. Who cares?

Mastodon had a terrible 8 bit game made to help promote Blood Mountain. That was an amazing album by an amazing band. The Flaming Lips had a very strange game when they were promoting an even more strange movie. Bands are trying to use more non traditional ways to promote their work and I for one have no problem with a silly little game to kill some time and listen to music.

We all know radio is has passed on and is now an undead corpse feeding on the living. MTV? Don't get me started. Would you rather them start licensing their songs to be used in car commercials? Maybe Ed can resurrect his career as a child model, though it would be a little creepy now.

It's getting harder and harder to defend this band I swear to god.

You may just wanna 'hang it up' then dude, because I think we are going to seeing a lot more of this type of thing in the near future with the other re-relaeases...

I don't mind all the PJ hoopla...bring it on!

I don't think this game is hurting their integrity.

    EXACTLY.

Some people around here need to pull the stick out of their ass and just fucking relax. Unbelievable. No matter what this band does, it is never done correctly. Give me a fucking break.

I'd say WTF is this more because the game sucks than because its associated with Pearl Jam. Would have much rather they used a band photo or the cover of ten to put together. This thing hurts my eyes!

That said - I would love it if they had more online things with more bonuses... like being able to d/l Drop in the Park since its only on the vinyl...

You people fret over nothing. You would think the band had just allowed a song of their's to be played on "Friends" or something.

...i like the game... i found it enjoyable... plus it serves as great distraction at work!

As for the guitar hero or rock band or whatever-t-f it is... i think its cool...itll make me go out there and buy the game system just so I can play the the entire album of what initially got me into the best rock band in the world way back in 92...

be pissed off if you want... feel the need to say dumb things like "its getting harder to defend the band...", dont renew your membership... just means me getting closer and closer to the stage at each show at each show...considering ive been pretty close, maybe you not renewing membership will get me back stage...jk

I didn't mean to call you an ass, and it wasn't a personal attack. I didn't even bother to read who created the post. My point was that "if you don't like it then shut your mouth and ignore it" is an overused statement in response to any time someone disagrees with something about the band. You're not an ass, it was just an unoriginal statement. If people want to air grievances about the band, right or wrong, there's no more appropriate place than this forum. But by the way you jumped all over one word in my post suggests that you really aren't into debating points anyway. It doesn't matter, I was just throwing in my two cents, just like you. Thats about as far from stirring the pot as it gets.

also... people evolve. if pearl jam was still the pearl jam from 20 years ago, that'd be pretty pathetic in my book. so what if theres more marketing today? maybe they didn't want marketing before because they, as they themselves have stated (i'm pretty sure they have, correct me if i'm wrong), were too immature and inexperienced to handle fame and didn't want to be in the spotlight. fast forward 20 years. they're not popular anymore.
and besides, who CARES if they use marketing ploys? what should really matter is how their music effects your heart and soul, how pearl jam can make your worst feelings go away in an instant, how you can connect with other people who feel the same way and just "get it".
wow.. that really wasn't supposed to be a rant, i swear
i wish the band still was like they were 20 years ago least they didnt have verzion wireless props on stage and werent charging people 100 bucks for concert tix. this band used to slam bands who marketed themselves and now they become part of the machine

Yeah...this was a Sony/Epic thing, not a band thing. So they really aren't involved with this other than having to go along with someone else's promotion scheme....that's business for ya....

 REALITY CHECK PEOPLE...I GUARANTEE we wouldn't see this from PJ back in 96...The times they are-a-changin...still my favorite band, but I think alot of you are letting your super-fan status haze your perception of reality...as for the game, it is a cool time killer.........................................

They did have stuff liek this back in 96.

Pearl Jam did Monkeywrench radio back in 96. HAd there been more widespread use of the internet, you might have seen stuff like this.

People still expect PJ to play their records on AM radio or what?
