"Brother" released on Tuesday 2/17 on KRock

KROCK NY (92.3) will be airing the first ever version of the newly released Pearl Jam song "Brother - with lyrics" on Tuesday - first time will be 10am and then 1 time per hour after that.

According to Billboard, Pearl Jam is heading into the studio for a two-week session in LA. They’ll be working on their ninth studio album with producer Brendon Benson and hope to release the record by themselves sometime this year.

Bassist Jeff Ament told Billboard that singer Eddie Vedder “keeps getting better.” Pearl Jam hasn’t worked with Benson on a full album since their 1996 record Yield.

Listen to K-Rock this Monday for a previously unreleased PJ track, called "Brother". While it isn’t a ‘new’ song per se, it has never been released before (not even via illegal downloading or the fanclub).

They have decided to finally release it to coincide with the anniversary of their album Ten.

    My local radio station has been talking about the new/old song "Brother" and they plan on playing it too. Not sure if they are playing it on 2/16 also but they said to be listening for it!

    This will be an unreleased version of Brother. There are at least three versions with lyrics already floating out there--one live and two demo. Then there is also the instrumental version. What you probably have is one of the demo versions. The "new" yet very old version is much clearer sounding than the demo.

    Between the Sheets (?) was one of them?

    You are referring to "Anything In Between"
    Yes, there was *a* version of Brother on that disc. That disc was originally compiled as a test disc for lost dogs and sent internally around the sony music/epic studios. What we got out of Lost Dogs was the result of a bunch of vetoes from that "Anything In Between" disc.

    To the vast majority of collectors and tape traders from the 90s, myself included, Brother was that rare Ten Outtake that had previously only appeared on a tape labeled "Rough Mixes 4-26-1991" And even through tape traders, the general consensus was that Brother was a great song, and you had to get a copy of the Rough Mixes tape somehow, because that one song was worth it.

    The song has been circulating for quite some time, but there are currently 4 different mixes out there....Rough Mixes (has vocals), Lost Dogs (no vocals), "Anything In Between" (also has vocals, but no improv at the beginning or end like the rough mixes version has) as well as a live version from 2-7-91 Florentine Gardens (California).

    Soon to be version #5 on February 17th.
