Im already picturing what the chorus "see my firends!" will sound like. I like it
You're picturing what it will sound like? :?
For some reason I thought of STBC when I read it... "See this needle, see my friends!"

Before the hyperbolic forensic analysts pick it all to pieces and fret/freak the fuck out, allow me to just say thanks for a badass heads-up. Good find.

I can't wait... They will do it without any label? By themselves?
I hope Jeff will take big part in this record...
BTW. I'm not sure but about meeting without Eddie - didn't He have more important things in His private life then? something says me that was the reason, why He couldn't be there.
Wow! New album with different sound!
What a great day!
Not 10c member? Have sth to say? write to me - I'll put it on the forum

"There's a couple of great things that Ed brought in that could be real departures for us. Whatever wave Ed caught with Into the Wild has taken him to different places."
That excites me.
Also, a Kings of Leon type song from Matt? That sounds like it has potential.

Awesome. Remember when Ed said he had learned some things while doing the Into the Wild soundtrack and that his band would benefit from it? Looks like he meant it.
this is fantastic news... especially after playing bioshock for 2 hours
Bioshock is a great game. Currently testing left 4 dead, having tons of fun with it.
I had no idea Bioshock is this good... how is left 4 dead? ..part of that 1st person shooter class of Fallout, Dead Space, etc. I'm gunna go for Far Cry 2 next
anyway, what I meant to say was the game really puts me in a spooked out mood. New Pearl Jam album news really sets me back to my center.

Good News.
It sounds like the band is trying out new things. "New" is always a welcomed word when it come to music.
We should all be thankful that Pearl Jam (unlike some of their peers) are not a group content to just throw the ship on the auto pilot and simply sit back and rake in the cash while the same old can of beans gets recycled over and over again.
"Drastic Departue" is something that really excites me....It means their collective creativity and desire to seek out new forms of expression and art through music is still vital and not rotting away dead in pile of dust behind their amplifiers. This is the mark of great artists Like Neil Young and Bob Dylan who never looked back...ever...They kept chasing their art with reckless abandon...no quarter asked, no quarter given...They kept chasing it no matter how abstract or challenging it may have been to their fans.
I believe that this will be a key factor in relation to Pearl Jam's longevity
"Into The Wild" really opened some doors for Ed as a songwriter, I'm really excited to hear the directions he's heading now.
Also this "Montana Song Writing Retreat" thing sounds interesting. Although admittedly this sounds a little bit "Kumbaya...Let's throw another log on the fire Boys!!" kind of deal ... But either way I'm hoping that it produces some good results for the rest of the band in terms of ideas and song writing.
Hopefully Stone comes out guns blazing on this record...I'm really hoping to hear some funky ass riffs that make Stoney duckwalk like a mofo on stages everywhere.

U2 anyone?
It appears this will be a great year for the band. So excited!
Would anyone be so kind to elaborate on what it says pretty please?
if you click on the articles themselves, you should be able to zoom in.
Really exciting stuff, especiall to hear Stone say "this album could sound significantly different"
Also love the fact that Ed is continuing to develop on his into the wild spirit
yeah, sounds good to me! although i would still like to hear the 7 minute freak jam...
Yeah I saw that too. Personally, I like the long songs and freak jams. Sometimes some of their songs are so good it feels they should be longer. I just hope by shorter they don't mean a bunch of 1 or 2 minute tracks.
3. "Last year, everyone but Vedder gathered in bassist Jeff Ament's Montana house for a songwriting retreat." What? You're too good to sit down with everyone else? Huh punk? Huh?
Thanks for sharing. I read this when I got to work this morning, and it really was a good start to the day. I wish it would come out sooner, but I am willing to wait. A lot of times bands say things about how they are doing something totally new and different, and then they release an album, and it isn't that unique, but I do sort of believe Pearl Jam with a lot of what they are saying in this article. It just sounds like they are all in a great place right now. Not to get too personal, but I think it is relevant that since the last album was recorded, at least three members of the band have added members to their family through birth and/or marriage, there is a new president, etc. I am pretty excited. Fall can't come soon enough.
