Recently I have been enjoying the Bogle wines
very good and under $15 a bottle
Me too! I found them this summer, Very nice.

I drink a lot of wine and now that i'm married with two kids, I don't buy expensive bottles anymore. So I usually buy for everyday drinking "Bolla" Chianti or Valpolicella. I love love love Barolo but sadly only the good ones are very $$$$$.

For a treat I buy SIMI Cabernet. Mmmmmm Awesome with a nice cut of meat. About $22 to $24.00.

I also enjoy a nice Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc which is my favorite White...Does not need to be expensive by any means to find a nice bottle.

  • We have a local winery here in NJ called Valenzano they just released a new Port Wine called "Jersey Devil" made with Brandy

As an occasional cigar smoker this wine is excellent with a stogie

Here is the write up on the wine :

    Jersey Devil Port

Our deep rich and velvety Cynthiana wine fortified with brandy and oak aged for 3 years. Alc. 19.5% By Vol. Yes, that is correct. It is a full size bottle for less than $15.00 per bottle. Yes, we know that most ports on the market are packaged in a smaller bottle and sell well over $25.00. We simply dont care. Our goal at Valenzano Winery is to provide great quality wines at AFFORDABLE prices and that’s what we will continue to do. Jersey Devil Port -Some Legends Are Made Locally!

    $14.99 per 750ml bottle

Ohhh, I love outside of Atlantic City, I wanna try this.. Thanks!

totally agree about the finding good wines that are not super expensive-but I find there is a big difference between an $8 wine and a $14 wine. If I want to stay under $10-Bogle merlot @$8 a bottle.
I usually stick to california cabernet-lots of reasonably priced bottles to choose from
yeah that simi alexander valley cab is very nice
I like chilean wines-try the veramonte cabernet reserva @ $11-13 or the Primus @$18-20
I have not had very good experiences with cheaper Italian wines. But I love this tuscan:
    http://www.bivioitalia.com/tuscan-red.asp
$13-20 depending on how snobby the shop is :lol::lol:

those are my everyday/weekend reds, dont really do whites-although I love a nice dry French Chablis or Dry German Riesling-but they are $$$$

  • I am very keen on this thread as I want to get into wine.
What is the best type to drink.
Can someone please explain the difference, is one sweeter, dryer, stronger than the other?
I am only used to home made wine, not the bottled at the store wine.
I am only talking Red wine here.

They opened a new store at the DFO outlet near my house, I now have 2 stores close by.
I didn't make it on time to the store last night, was held up at my mates place.
I drank half a bottle of my dads homemade red last night however.

If you can get your hands on it, the Bogle '06 old vine zin is an exceptional value. The newer years...not so much.

I have actually tried it-thats what got me trying their other wines. Good, but IM not a huge fan of zinfandels.
  • I bought a bottle of shiraz and a bottle of merlot last night.
The wine expert in store was helpful, she pointed me to good wine for beginners.
Told me not to try blends yet but get used to each type individually.

go visit some cellar doors and prepare to buy in bulk!
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.
  • It's a shame wine needs to be consumed 2-3 days after opening a bottle.

vacu-vin helps, but you can find half bottles as well.
  • Here's a little article my local paper did on the Maynard wines being available at my store. Enjoy! :D
